Mens Fashion Tips: Matching Shirt Colors With Ties
Commonly, men choose whites for their solid coloured dress shirts. These are thought to be the easiest to match with other outfit and easily create formal appearance.
However, there is an aspect that needs to be considered when choosing your dress shirt colour. It is important to take note of a mans hair colour and skin tone a blond man will look slightly off in a fair-coloured shirt. This will only take the focus into the shirt rather than the face. For a blond man, a white shirt will not be able to enhance his light coloured skin tone. Yet, white dress shirt is still an important part of a mans wardrobe.
The best way to make a white shirt more interesting is to either get a Twill white shirt or a Herringbone white shirt as this will give a subtle texture to your monochromatic feel. Solid coloured shirts should contrast against the skin tone and hair colour and bring the focal point to the face. Patterned shirts also have this kind of effect.
White is not the only basic colour for a mens wardrobe. Blue coloured dress shirts are also a must have for every men. It easily blends into almost every mans skin tone and hair colour. Wearing blue never seen to go wrong as it gives of a warmer and richer overtone for any skin tone which white dress shirts do not do. So mens wardrobe should be made up mainly of these two colors: blue and white.
Do all blue tones fit different skin tones and hair colours? Usually the best choice is medium blue and this shade should always bring the focus to your face. But men with tan or olive skin tones and contrasting hair colours can pull off wearing darker blue tones. Fair skinned men with dark coloured hair gets the best advantage in blue tones. Almost all the shades of blue are well suited for them especially medium to dark blue tones
Fair skinned men with light coloured hair should stick with light and soft blue shades. These men have a muted contrast and lighter blue shades will balance out this low contrast. Pink shades in dress shirts have a feminine touch to it. These colours usually look good on fair-skinned men, especially if they have a pinkish glow on their fair skin. Pink broadcloth dress shirts are popular with Wall street bankers and stockbrokers.
Men having low difference between their skin and hair colour are best with tan coloured dress shirts. This may also be paired with dark brown suits to create a nice layer for these two shades. Yellow and gold colours are not well-suited for pale skinned men, but they would look great on blond haired men or brown and dark skinned men. It brings out life off the faces of these men. These colours are also great match for brown suits as well as gray or navy suits.
When you consider the formality of colours, white dress shirts still stand as the most formal next is the blue broadcloth. The next formal choice would be the blue chambray then pink, yellow or gold, tan and last would be green.
Some daring shades of dress shirts that came out are red and orange. However, you must realize that these are just trendy choices and may not be able to withstand the changing fashion trends.
A wide choice of colourful shades of mens dress shirts provides a nice play of combinations with suits. They also proffer a less forma touch and fit into the era of casual business trend. No wonder these bright solid coloured dress shirts are considered power shirts.
