Tips to Save Money on Mens Clothes - Ties, Shoes, Shirts, and More
If you are trying to look for ways to save money on clothes without sacrificing the way you look, then here are the 10 tips to help you out.
Look For Sales
It is well advised that you look for certain pieces of clothing during sale. It would be a great help to know that you have that certain piece of clothing anytime that the need of it arises. So go shopping regularly and buy the thing that caught your attention especially if it is on sale.
Limit Your Wardrobe
Always ask yourself if you really need an item, and if you will wear it. If you now have 10 white dress shirts are all okay, then why do you need to buy another one? What you should do is find something with a different cut, colour or pattern.
Accessorize
Having accessories such as cufflinks and neckties is one of he cheapest ways to change your looks. Wear different neckties everyday to work and it will surely change your looks. Cufflinks and neckties costs much cheaper than new suits. Aside from these, shoes and belts are also a great way to accessorize. Though shoes could be more costly, classic dress shoes never go out of style and can be worn for different occasions too. It is ideal for you to own at least 2 pairs of dress shoes.
Buy Clothes That Are Versatile
When shopping for clothes, you should buy items that will complement your existing wardrobe. Classic suits colours like charcoal; navy blue or gray are great with most dress shirts and ties. If you have a wide range of shirts and ties, think of buying a suit with other colours like olive or beige.
Alterations
If you gained or lost some weight, chances are your suit will not be well-fitting anymore. Find a tailor and see of your suit can be altered. Two piece suits are classics and they never go out of style. Having them altered will costs only a fraction of buying a new one.
Care For Your Ties
Most ties of high quality are made from silk. Silk is a delicate fabric that can easily be damaged if not cared for properly. Knowing how to take care of your silk ties will help you keep you ties in shape and last longer. When tying your necktie be sure that you have clean hands and well manicured. A tie can be damaged by long fingernails. Untie it after each wearing and hand straight so it can get back to its original shape. And do not wear a tie for two day in a row.
Re-Sole Your Shoes
Take your nice pair of dress shoes to the cobbler to have thin pieces of rubber glued to the leather bottom of the sole. This will protect the leather sole from the effects of everyday wear. When it gets worn, you may bring it back to have it re-soled.
Use Shoe Trees
Shoe trees will keep your dress shoes in perfect shape. This will keep your leather shoes from wrinkling and cracking. Aside from using shoe tress, you should also polish your shoes regularly. Polish not only gives your shoes a nice shine, it protects the leather as well.
Hang Your Clothes
Be sure to hang you pants and suit in a well-ventilated area after you wear them. It will keep them wrinkle free and will lessen unnecessary dry-cleaning which may damage the fabric. If you are wearing a suit to the office, you may take the jacket off when necessary and hang it with a hanger.
Do not Throw Away
Designs and styles usually come back. The first round of skinny neckties came during the 60s and now it is again becoming popular. Original vintage neckties are very popular and are difficult to find. So if you still got some space in your closet, do not throw stylish clothes.
Though not all of these may work for you, they still are a good starting point to get ideas on effectively managing your wardrobe.
