Diamonds and gemstones have been popular; whether in hard times or good. Times were tough, indeed, if you had to sell off the family jewels. Until recent decades, there were the classic cuts. And as antique jewelry is handed in, repaired or restored, further respect for cutters' of old also raises in esteem. Also, the romance factor in diamonds is a unique phenomenum. For those who are romantic but on a budget, an advantage of antique jewelry is that it is not as expensive as the new diamonds.
