Why Men Tie on a Necktie
The neckties that are being used today have roots that have been embedded deeply in history. Many countries and a mix of different cultures have influenced the evolution of this particular mens neck wear. Today, neckties still play an important role in wardrobes of many successful men, without the restrictions of the past. Modern neckties come in an amazing array of sizes, colours and designs for any occasion. Among these, probably the most radical departure from the traditional is the novelty ties. Tough not actually acceptable for every occasion, these interesting and often fanciful ties are usually created with a no holds barred standard.
Though it may be hard to trace back the creator of novelty tie, the trend seems to have started in 1940s. A lot of neckties from this period have printed or hand painted designs that goes from unusual to plain odd. Some credits Salvador Dali to have started the movement, when he shocked the art world by doing his work on fine silk ties. His ties are among the most prized by collectors today. Some other artists followed his steps and even now, fine silk ties are made with works of new artist as well as masters such as Van Gogh. They range from original hand-painted designs to reprints of almost any genre.
Despite its origins, the novelty tie soon became more than just a trend. More ideas were put in and soon new lines were launched. American businessmen then had a way to express themselves around the office or at a social gathering. Soon manufacturers created more than enough expression from religious to risq. More traditional cultures like the British were of course stubborn to accept the change.
Then, popular themes worked their way into the faces of ties. By the 90s almost every hobby, historic event or public figure has been immortalized on a face of a tie. Almost every war in the American and World history has been commemorated in ties. Famous persons such as Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe, as well as the presidents of the US has been printed or been painted onto neckties. Even our favourite cartoon characters from Betty Boop to Looney Tunes and Disney are offered in licensed and unlicensed versions. And all teams of the NFL, NBA and NHL as well other individual sports have become a subject for this fashion trend.
Holidays have also been a subject for practically hundreds of tie designs. Who have not received a Holiday tie that he has been obligated to wear to the company party each year? Valentines day is also a popular subject as well as every other occasion that comes in the year like Halloween, and even the Kiss Me, I am Irish tie. Whatever the occasion is, there surely is a novelty tie for it, in silk or polyester.
Technology also has an impact to the novelty tie business. LED, miniature batteries and microchips as given as a lot of flashing, honking and pull my finger amazements that tip the scales from being the talk of the party or hidden at the bottom of the closet.
Dress Code For Novelty Ties
It is a fact that novelty ties are not for every occasion. The more formal or business oriented the functions are, the less appropriate novelty ties are. Novelty ties really have a tacky reputation from the fashion standpoint, so it does not suit a well dressed man. So novelty ties should be reserved for holidays and special events calling for more playful attire.
