How A Hair Transplant Can Restore Self Confidence

The market in male grooming products has never been so lucrative. It seems that everywhere we look there's someone trying to sell us something that will transform our appearance and make us look and feel ten or twenty years younger. From simple lotions and creams to hair replacement and teeth correcting procedures it seems there is nothing that can't be done to make us look that bit more attractive.

What used to be seen as exclusively a female driven market has now become open to all. There are now moisturizers, hair products and cosmetics designed and marketed primarily at a male audience. Not long ago the shelf in the local high street chemist that catered for men stocked little more than razor blades and aftershave; all that has changed now.

There are several factors driving the new interest in male grooming products and services, health is one. A healthy body leads to a healthy mind as the saying goes. It's true that if you feel good, with a healthy, well balanced diet and good hygiene habits, then you will improve your brain power and be less inclined towards depression or negative feelings like doubt and low self esteem but there is also a more basic reason behind some of the interest; appearance.

For years it has been known that a person's appearance does make a difference. It may have negative connotations; you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but it's human nature to make judgments, however small, based on what we notice about people. The more we understand about this theory the more we are inclined to act on the information and use it to our advantage.

It is widely accepted that in the 1960 US presidential election John F Kennedy beat Richard Nixon largely due to the fact that he was good looking and presented himself better when faced with a large audience. Nixon even went so far as to say that the sweat on the top of his lip during a televised debate cost him the presidency. And we know that for as long as there have been films, film stars have been dying their hair, wearing make up and doing everything they can to appear younger and more attractive.

This idea has now permeated all aspects of life and increasingly obvious in the workplace where creating the right impression is vital in securing contracts and closing deals. It's no long enough to wear the right suit and pick out a good tie, there is now the opportunity to roll back the years with botox injections, a face lift or a hair transplant.

Modern hair transplants have come a long way since they were first carried out in America in the late 1950s. Today it is possible to transplant new, healthy hair onto a person's scalp and never be able to tell that nay sort of procedure had taken place.

Together with the technical and medical advances in the hair transplant field a number of high profile celebrities have also admitted to having the procedure. John Cleese, Elton John and cricketer Shane Warne have all gone on record saying they have had a good experience from their hair transplant.

The hair transplant procedure is now available to everyone, it's not just the preserve of the rich and famous. So it's not just film stars who can benefit from the added confidence that a thick, healthy head of hair can bring. A hair transplant can now benefit office workers, shop assistants, in fact anyone who feels that hair loss or baldness is having a detrimental effect on the way they deal with people.
