Online Business and Writing Your Advertisement Headline

Probably the most important part of your online business product advertisement is the headline. A short concise headline that grabs people's attention and makes them want to examine your offer further is what we are looking for.

A good advertisement headline is worth its weight in gold. It will drag traffic to your advertisement and some of this traffic will convert if your advert continues to excite the imagination and curiosity of your reader.

An excellent headline compels your reader to examine the matter closer and you would be prudent to allocate time into putting on the readers shoes and analysing what would make you click on your link and proceed to your landing page. This type of reflective learning is imperative for understanding the promotion of your online business.

Just about all advertising placements that you make for your online business on service advertising sites such as Google Adwords will only give you twenty five characters to build a compelling headline.

In most cases you can't 'bold' or 'underline' your text or for that matter add any formatting.

This only adds up to just four or five words for your headline before you proceed into your next two lines of text ad.

Questions make excellent headlines because the human mind demands an answer as soon as it registers a question being asked. The question you ask though has to challenge the reader of your advert to force them into wanting to know the answer.

The question has to be relevant to the person reading the advert and feed their curiosity to make them want to find out more. The question also needs to be relevant to the product that you are selling or promoting.

Some examples of questions that may make people curious include:

'Need more money?'
'Want your own business?'
'Looking for lost friends?'

These easy questions could apply to almost anyone and although subtle they elicit more curiosity than the following headlines:

'Get more money'
'Get your own business'
'Find lost friends'

These headlines may be chosen to use in the second line of your advert as you attempt to answer your own question and lead the prospective buyer further into your advert. For example:

'Need more money?
Get more money now and live the life you deserve.'

The second line of just about all advertising sites will allow you more characters to get your message across and further entice the reader.

The idea here is to build on your headline and entice the reader through their curiosity to want to open your web page and investigate further. There isn't much room to maneuver and you can be sure that if you aren't honest with the reader in these few lines then they can't be guaranteed to stay long examining your offer.

You need to be honest. Give some indication of the product that you are selling but maintain the readers curiosity. All you want is for the reader to click on the link to your web site and go to your landing page.

It is here that you want to unveil the full extent of your product or get the prospective buyer to enter their contact details so that they become a lead. This is the objective if you are using a sqeeze page.

Some experienced internet marketing business owners get prospective buyers to fill in an application form as this gets rid of those who are not entirely serious about the concept of your offer or your product.

Application forms also allows time between the application and getting onto the landing page without making this journey too complicated. If you have application notifications attached to your mobile phone then this give you time to position yourself to make the phone call to the advert reader who is now a lead through application.

Human contact at this time has been shown to improve outcome sales astonomically.

The reader has to have a certain commitment to fill out the application form and then validate their email addess before finding themselves on the landing page. The information in the application form helps to guide the introduction conversation and welcome call.

The inquisitiveness and commitment that was demonstrated during the application form process is what we will be feeding with further email messages from our autoresponder.

Some people believe that the average purchaser will see an offer at least seven times before making a purchase. This is why auto-responders are such a large part of internet marketing.

For now though all you want is a headline that captures people's attention and helps them make a decision to enter your landing page.

Some examples of other good headlines include:
Too busy working to make any money?
Tired of working for someone else?
You, a Millionaire Writer?
Sick and Tired of Making Your Boss Rich?
Do you honestly want to be rich?

The headline is the most important part of your advertisement. The journey of the purchaser and the corresponding journey of the internet marketer is used here to demonstrate how a good headline can lead a reader into becoming a lead or even a customer.
