What The Heck is Videoblogging?

Textblogging has become very popular over the past few years. Once people caught on that you can express yourself to the world for free, blogging literally exploded. Using videos is quickly becoming the new medium for personal expression and for marketing products over the internet. Videoblogging is now becoming the next best thing since sliced bread.

Videoblogging, a powerful tool

People who use videoblogging are using, whether they realize it or not, a powerful vehicle that allows them not only to express themselves but opens up a whole new world of opportunity for them. Now, if you put this in a business perspective, the potential is quite amazing. Videoblogging is a powerful tool for showing your prospective customers your line of products or services. Think of it as a free commercial for your business. Videoblogging through RSS will also give you even more of an opportunity for reaching your target market.

We all know the power of television commercials and how they compel us to buy what we don't really want or need. If you can present your product well enough and establish trust, people will likely buy what you're offering or refer your product to someone they know.

What you will need

For the home videoblogger you will need a few things to get started. Get yourself a decent web camera, the more megapixels the better. You will also need a microphone, video software, and lights. As long as you know how to use your camera, then you can create a videoblog.

Write a 30 second or more infomercial about your product that will catch the viewer's attention. This is where it pays to be creative and original. Get some ideas from friends and family and try a few different things. You can just show the product by itself or put yourself or someone else in front of the camera to demonstrate your product.

One of the most important aspects of production is lighting. The more you light up the area the crisper the images will apear online. While you're at it why not add some special lighting effects to create a more professional looking videoblog. Select your background carefully too. The light affects the presentation so make sure that the background and the light complement each other.

Ever watch a videoblog without sound? Not very appealing is it? If you're going to have an appealing videoblog you need sound. Get yourself a good microphone to do the job right. Speak to your customers in a clear and enthusiastic tone. If your customers find you boring and monotenous they will more than likely go watch something else.

The finishing touches

Using video editing software will be very helpful in finalizing your work. The software will allow you to add sounds, delete bad angles, and insert some still pictures if you want. If you have no knowlege of how to use this kind of software, pick out a program that is user-friendly and that will also allow you to do video editing without too much trouble. Even simple video editing programs should do the trick.

Videoblogging is a great tool but it also has it downside. Videos tend to slow down the a computer, so people may not have the patience to wait for the video to load especially if the customer is still on a dial-up connection.

Use videoblogging as an addition to your marketing efforts and not just your only marketing outlet. Keep in mind though that it is best to keep the text and pictures present in your presentation to accommodate all possible viewers of your site.

Videoblogging is an excellent way for you to present products and services to your target market. The more creative you are with your videoblog the better. You want to attract attention that will get people talking about your products.

On a a last note, try to make your videoblog as interactive as possibe. This will produce a captive audience that is more open to you and what you have to offer. So if you want to increase sales or just have some fun, why not give it a try, after all it is free.
