Corporate Events Get A Makeover

There was a time when anything that had been organized by the company you work for was about as welcome as toothache. The thought of having to spend time with the boss and all your work mates and be on your best behavior while you're at it was not a pleasant one. Corporate events have for a long time had a bad press with people either looking at them as a waste of time or saying they are window dressing to hide deeper problems.

It's true that years ago most corporate events were things that only benefitted a select few and consisted of men in suits sitting around congratulating each other, but all that has changed. In today's business world the importance of team building, rewarding and recognition have all contributed to a greater importance being given to corporate events. The result is that employees and employers alike now share in the benefits that can be achieved through all manner of corporate events.

Conferences - The traditional or most recognizable corporate event is probably the conference. They can involve small groups of people or large numbers, even thousands but in the past they have tended to be rather formal with dry, tiring discussions. Today the conference has gone through a considerable make over and at something organized by one of the new corporate events management companies you're more likely to see famous guest speakers or even entertainment acts.

And it's not just the format of the conference or the fact that you'll be entertained as well as informed at such a corporate event that has changed, the venue is just as likely to be unusual as well. All sorts of places are now seeing the potential of throwing open their doors to hosting corporate events and if you can imagine it there's probably somewhere out there that can deliver it, from top class restaurants and country homes to sailing barges and football stadiums, everything is possible.

Hospitality - In the past taking a potential client or customer out to lunch in the hope that they would sign on the dotted line was often enough, but people expect a bit more nowadays. The care and attention that you pay to potential clients is often seen as a reflection on your business and how successful it is. The more successful you look the more people will be inclined to use your services or buy your products.

Corporate events that cater for this type of hospitality can now take into account every possible need. If you know a few details about the client you are trying to impress then an event can be organized around them. Sporting events are always popular and hospitality deals for Six Nations Rugby and Premiership Football are always impressive but there are also other avenues to explore.

Turning up at a film premiere is always guaranteed to impress a customer or get a backstage pass to a music concert by a well known band. Corporate events really are all about choice these days.

Awards Nights - One of the biggest criticisms often leveled at corporate events is that they are not inclusive and fail to recognize the majority of employees; well even that is now a thing of the past. Awards nights are now an annual fixture in the business calendar with many companies hiring comedians, bands, dancers and celebrity speakers. A large media company recently organized an award nights based around the theme of a fairground. It hired rides and stalls and gave employees who attended vouchers that they could redeem on those rides.
