Energy Medicine Practitioner Shares Tips for Prospecting

From an Energy Medicine perspective, everything is energy. As human beings, we are designed with the ability to heal ourselves and others using biofeedback tools which align the body’s electromagnetic and other more subtle energies. By re-patterning or reinforcing these systems, disturbances and congestion within them can be corrected and allow for balance, flow and harmony -- and, in turn, health of the body. In order to heal, maintain vibrant health and increase vitality and joy, it is necessary for the body’s energies to have space to move, to move in specific patterns, to cross over at all levels and to maintain balance with other energies.

Numerous tools can be used to achieve and maintain this state of well-being ranging from intent, via use of the mind, to tracing specific energy pathways using the hands. Tapping, twisting, massaging, pinching or connecting specific points on the skin -- as well as various exercises and postures -- also activate the body’s healing and balancing energies.

So, how does Energy Medicine relate to prospecting? Well, if everything is energy, then all of our interactions must be energetically based. Prospecting is about creating an environment where energy flows freely. It involves an exchange of energy between two people. It’s all about connecting. Bridging a gap. Filling a void or a need. Passionately sharing one’s products, services or opportunity. By manipulating our own energies -- in the most positive and beneficial sense -- we can establish harmonic resonance within ourselves and connect to others with ease.

The following are a few tips to encourage a balanced flow of energy:

1) To ensure that energy is moving in the right direction, locate the area where your collar bones and sternum meet. Below the collarbones and on either side of the sternum you’ll typically find a dip. By simultaneously tapping these points with some vigor, while inhaling through the nose and exhaling through the mouth, we can “flip” energy in a forward direction and/or enhance its flow.

2) Just as the right side of the brain controls the left side of the body and the left side of the brain controls the right, energy is meant to cross from the right hemisphere to the left side of the body and from the left hemisphere to the right. When this crossing does not occur at its best, individuals often experience “scrambled energies.” Some symptoms of this condition include the inability to think clearly, difficulty expressing oneself, dyslexia and feelings of overwhelm. The modified Wayne Cook Posture corrects for these scrambled energies. It’s an easy exercise to do -- seated, standing or lying down. Extend your left arm out in front of your body with palm facing outward to the left. Likewise, extend your right arm so that both palms are touching.and lace your fingers together. Gently rotate your clasped hands toward your body as your elbows bend and forearms end up resting against your chest. Hold for at least four deep breaths.

3) One of the most important aspects of prospecting is listening. Really hearing what the other person is saying. By simply pulling on our ears -- outward in all directions -- we can open ourselves to being more empathic listeners. Taking in what the other person is sharing… who they are, where they’re coming from, and what they’re seeking.

Using these simple techniques and others can make a profound difference in our daily interactions. Try them. Your mind, body and spirit will thank you. And, likely, so will the prospect at the other end of the landline or wireless connection!
