2. You Can't Make Much Money

This definitely is not true. Often times, telecommuters make exactly the same amount of money as people who work in regular offices. Also if you have your own business you have the potential to out earn people with regular 9-5 jobs. It all depends on what you're doing.

Don't forget to look into tax write-offs. Usually, you're able to write off your office space in your home. Check with your accountant for other deductions.

3. You Need Office Space to be Professional

Definitely not true!

For most jobs, people will never see your home office. And these days even if you have to bring clients to your home, it is becoming so common place that people don't mind visiting a home office.

One of the greatest cultural changes is the emergence of coffee shops for people to hold meetings. You can use these coffee shops as your meeting room.

4. You Can Vacation When You Want

This is somewhat of a myth because yes, you can go on vacation, but you really have to plan your budget to make sure that you can afford a vacation. It's important you take into account any changes in income due to how regularly money is paid to you.

5. People at Home Don't Work Hard

This is the biggest lie created by the people working 9-to-5 jobs.

They are probably jealous that you don't have to travel back and forth to work every day. On average, people working from home usually work longer hours than people that work in a regular office. This makes sense because it's easy to write just one more email, or another report when you are steps away from your computer.

In summary, most of the things you hear from friends only have a hint of truth. With careful planning you can be productive and happy when you work at home.
