Staying Centered on the Entrepreneurial Journey!
The entrepreneurial journey will certainly take you out of your “comfort zoneâ€. After all, don't we entrepreneurs like to play on the edge?
In many ways, it is how we handle being out of our comfort zone that determines our destiny. Can we learn to stay aware and accepting of ourselves, others, and our experience in general as we sojourn on the entrepreneurial path?
The bigger your dream, the more challenges you will encounter along the way. So the question is: Can you stay committed and connected to your dream as you impeccably deal with that which arises moment-to-moment on your journey?
Having a coach or mentor, and a supportive group to “travel†with along the way is definitely a great idea. However, no matter how much external support we have, we will encounter times when we are left to our own willingness and ability to deal with our lives. Where do we begin?
We begin right where we are, paying more attention to our moment-to-moment experience: our thoughts, feelings, sensations, intuitions, desires, memories, fantasies, decisions, and conclusions, noticing when we feel most joyous; what is most important to us.
Allow your body to be still. You may want to gently close your eyes.
It is very useful to pay attention to the breath, and to begin to slow down and deepen the breathing pattern. Exhaling through a relaxed open throat can facilitate a more mindful state.
Simply notice what you notice and allow everything to be what it is.
Remember, right now you are not attempting to change anything. Simply notice and let things be.
As you practice this more and more, you will eventually come to the realization that you are not the things you are noticing! If you were, then you wouldn't be able to notice them!
Magically, as you become more aware of the content of your consciousness and accept what you discover, you will have more space to be.
There is an exquisite balance that can be realized between being and doing and having.
As you allow yourself to simply be, you will experience moments of effortless doing and that will lead to having a fuller life-experience. Eventually, you will be able to be in the presence of a great deal of motion and activity and still stay connected to that sense of Love and Beingness that is not attached to any particular phenomenon or experience.
Entrpreneurs are “in the arenaâ€, so to speak. They are not just sitting on the sidelines critiquing the performance of others.
I like to think that entrepreneurs must develop three functions to a very high level: dreaming, doing, and reflection – and then allow all three functions to contribute to each other and to the whole.
1. Dream dreams that stir our souls.
2. Take inspired and committed action, always doing our best.
3. Take time to reflect on our dreams and actions, and be flexible in our approach to life.
As we get better at “awareness†and “acceptanceâ€, we then can experience true responsibility, freedom, and power. We can also begin to practice meaningful forgiveness, as well as sensing a deeper level of gratitude.
We begin to get a deeper sense of ourselves as Love, and that Life is Love in action.
Eventually, we learn to take responsibility for our state of being and consciousness as our highest priority.
Then, unattached to any particular outcome, we paradoxically experience true commitment for the first time.
We are reborn to our true selves.
We have come Home, to where we have always been in Truth.
