London Jobs Reflect True State Of The Economy

If you are on the hunt for a job, or looking to kick start a career, many people will tell you that there is very little hope of finding something in this current social climate. Whilst recession looms, and the job markets are said to be stagnant, the media is reporting only the increasing unemployment figures and failing to perk up peoples spirits with the news that there are new positions becoming available. We take a look at London jobs and find out a few of the best positions that are on offer for work hungry horses and how the jobs being advertised reflect the real economic climate of the country.

There is a call for medical secretaries for private healthcare companies in the London area. The position could net the lucky contender a salary in the region of 27000GBP, not bad for a London wage. To be able to apply for this job you will need to have had specialized training as a medical secretary, alternatively, the employee may be willing to take on a graduate that has a background in biology and previous experience of secretarial work. The advertisement of this position leads me to believe that there are still people out there with enough disposable income to opt for private health care rather than cutting back on spending and relying on NHS treatment.

If you are IT savvy and consider yourself as knowledgeable in search engine optimisation, then applying for a post as a Web Developer could be your ticket to a great career. With a wage in the region of 45000 GBP, only uber-geeks and qualified people need apply. As the decline of high street sales hits the headlines, shoppers are actually hitting the web in search on online shopping. Increases in sales of products online have not drawn nearly enough attention, but it is a reality, and the presence of this type of job proves it. The economy is not in as dire a state as the high street retailers, and people are definitely still spending. Companies such as Zavvi have folded because all of their products can be purchased online, not because people have stopped buying DVDs and CDs.

Another example that the economy is still faring well is that positions are being advertised for travel agents on the London jobs scene. Once again, this is a sign that there is enough expendable income for people to still book holidays and travel. Recreation, leisure and tourism are the first industries to be hit when recession looms, but it seems that the demand is still sufficient to create new posts. There are of course many perks of the job in the travel agent industry, reduced fairs and holidays for example, and it is a great way to get experience for more glamorous travel jobs such as travel writer, holiday rep and air host or hostess. The average wage of around 20000 GBP isn't bad either.

A sure sign that everything is going to be alright is that the London Jobs market is advertising posts for recruitment agents. If the country needs more people to find people worth employing, then there are surely plenty of posts that need filling in the capital. A rather impressive wage packet of up to 50000 GBP gives the impression that an excellent recruitment agent is worth their weight in gold indicating that there are some good jobs out there for those with the right qualifications, and not a unemployment free for all like the media would have us believe.
