Internet Business Basics - 7 Tips For Starting Your Internet Business

I'm in the beginning phase of Internet marketing, products, and services. Where do I start in terms of beginning? How do you launch yourself and what steps do you take to get going?

I was recently at a seminar and somebody just told me that they sold their business that they built in my class a year ago. They actually built the site during my Internet Millionaire Intensive seminar. A year later they sold the business for $250,000. How wonderful is that? This sale shows that you can do stuff outside of just working online. You can sell your business to make money.

Back to the question. Generally, the first thing you need to do is to cover the basics which include:

Internet Business Basic #1: Buy a domain name. Go to http://www.godaddy.com to buy a domain.

Internet Business Basic #2: Get a hosting account. I would recommend getting a hosting account from Fat Jack hosting at http://www.fatjackhosting.com.

Internet Business Basic #3: Forget what everybody else says at this point regarding website design. I recommend that you put up a squeeze page/opt-in page. The reason for this squeeze page is to capture the name and email address of your website visitors. This allows you to market to them and build a relationship.

Think about it this way. Let's say you have a product and people buy it, but you don't capture their name and email address through a squeeze page. It is essentially a onetime transaction. Since you don't have their contact information you can't market to them in the future. You could miss out on a good chunk of potential profits. So set up a squeeze page/opt-in page right now.

Internet Business Basic #4: Drive your traffic to the opt-in page so you can build your list.

Internet Business Basic #5: Now you can work on affiliate marketing. When I first began, all I had was an opt-in page. I drove all my traffic to the opt-in page. I made my first million dollars through affiliate marketing.

Essentially, I built a list, found people that had products, and marketed those products. You can make a lot of money that way.

Internet Business Basic #6: I found the hottest products in my affiliate marketing. Then I built my business around these hot products. I let peoples checkbooks determine what markets and products I wanted to create.

Internet Business Basic #7: During this entire process you have to think about how you want to play in the Internet marketing game. Do you want to be a guru? Do you want to just be the publisher? Do you want to just be a reporter? I played in all areas.

I have done all roles. For example, I had a real estate company where I was the publisher. I had a guy that gave me all the content. I did all the marketing for his products. I just ran the backend.

I also did the reporting role/model. This is how I started in the Internet business world. I built a list called "Millionaire Minutes". I drove traffic to my opt-in page and found people like Drew Miles and people in the wealth building world. I reported on minutes I had with them and then emailed it to my list.

I also sold their products and services. I found people in real estate, taxes, Internet marketing, and wealth building niches. I marketed to them.

I also did the guru role. I surfaced in the Internet marketing world as a guru.
