Network and Internet Marketing: More Than Meets The Eye
What exactly is network marketing? If you go online and search for network marketing, you get thousands of references. You will find free online marketing workshops that can be invaluable to understanding the field.
It seems like everyone with a computer is offering advice about how to get into network marketing. More specifically they are offering advice about how to accumulate unprecedented personal wealth by trying their unique marketing system.
You've seen the testimonials and watched the videos imbedded in the system pitch. The main character is a highly successful individual with little or no computer experience. Sometimes they boast of little or no formal education beyond high school. They are often one step ahead of the debt collector.
Sometimes they are distraught because they have no idea how they are going to pay for their kid's upcoming birthday party. Their car is about to be repossessed and they have really hit bottom. Until, that is, they discovered this incredible money machine.
The money making machine is a system for network marketing that will not fail to produce enormous wealth. You just have to follow a precise set of instructions. Moreover, the system is being offered at a ridiculously low price. You can't lose.
Before you know it, there you are standing in front of not just a home but a mansion. The cars parked in the driveway are not just cars. They are high performance and high priced examples of engineering genius. And just so everyone knows, the cars are often parked in the garage and the mansion is often unoccupied. You and your family are spending a lot of time enjoying far away secluded beaches.
Is this all just a big scam, the goal of which is to part you and your money? Maybe. Everyone knows the old adage about a fool and his money. And it is the height of foolishness to jump into something without knowing what you are doing. Network marketing, like anything else, works best when you understand exactly what it is and how you can use it to benefit yourself.
By the way, something should have caught your eye in that last statement. The phrase "network marketing" should have jumped out. Talking about network marketing in connection with the sales pitch described above makes it all sound a little shady. You might get the idea that network marketing falls in the same category as used car salesmen. Nothing could be further from the truth.
The entire sales pitch is an excellent example of network marketing. Someone did their homework.
*They have a product to sell, in this case a system for helping you set up a business and market your own product
*They have used tried and true marketing concepts to promote their product
*They have persuaded you, with a convincing testimonial, that this could be something you want to pursue
*They have encouraged you to take the next step and click on the link to their website
*The website itself is geared to reinforce their success, and by extension your own success, should you decide to take the plunge
Whether or not their system actually works and is something that is a worthwhile investment is almost beside the point. The buyer, after all, has an obligation to do some serious homework.
Unless you are talking about buying a bar of soap that has an ages old brand name, you need to investigate the product thoroughly in order to determine if it will do for you what you want it to do. Remember those free online marketing workshops mentioned above? This is part of the homework.
This scenario is an excellent example of network marketing that utilizes tried and true business concepts of internet marketing. The legitimacy of a product is always a separate issue. But the methodology employed is standard sales practice. It is what network and internet marketing is all about.
