The Scrubs Revolution: From Aprons to Nursing Scrubs

There have been many changes in the medical profession in last century and one of them is a change in the attire. There was a time when the medical attire included wearing a butcher's apron but those days are long gone. Welcome to the 21st century! Today you have medical scrubs, which is an integral part of the official medical uniforms. These scrubs have become synonymous with the professionals working in hospitals. As we move slowly towards the future, we find medical uniforms going through a revolutionary change from being an apron to colorful hospital uniforms. These medical uniforms including nursing scrubs and scrub hats have evolved and are available in a variety of colors, styles, and designs. All you have to do is browse on the internet and choose the style or design of medical scrubs you want and purchasing them have never been any easier as it is today.

If you are looking for a particular color in medical scrubs then the best place to find the color of your choice is on the internet. Around the early 20th century, most of the medical staff including doctors and nurses wore a buttoned white garb that gave the medical profession an extremely serious face. This is not all; the traditional white dress was not made from any hygienic material unlike the medical scrubs of today. This was due to the fact that most of the medical practitioners did not have enough information or knowledge regarding the spreading of diseases through germs.

During that time, most scientists and doctors believed that germs spread spontaneously and were born out of nothing. Hence, very little or no consideration was shown towards basic sanitation and this led to a considerable increase in the mortality rate. Those were the times when surgeons wore a single butcher's apron over multiple surgeries. The result was that the apron became soiled with blood, and body fluids. A dirty apron sent out a positive and showed the surgeon to be the prominent and busy doctors in the entire hospital.

Things have changed now and today there are no stylish aprons but trendy drawstring pants with colorful pull over or mandarin collar tops. The traditional front or back buttoned nursing scrubs have been replaced by colorful tops minus the buttons. These scrubs are not only fresh to look at but they are comfortable and hygienic. Some of the medical scrubs even have cartoon characters and floral designs and these medical uniforms are normally worn by medical practitioners who working in the pediatric and childcare departments.

These stylish and colorful medical scrubs make children feel comfortable and bring an atmosphere of fun and happiness. Although the scrubs started out in white color, which symbolized cleanliness; but now they are available in as many colors as you can think of. Slowly white faded out because blood stains stood out in the white color. The other factor that led to the fade out of the white colored medical uniforms was that they created strain in the eyes under bright lighting.

This led to the manufacture of green medical scrubs. Most of the medical scrubs manufactured today are made from a blend of cotton and polyester because they are comfortable and also odor resistant. The best place to find poly-cotton nursing scrubs are over the Internet where you will get some of the most competitive rates and a wide variety of designs and colors.

Before you buy a scrub ensure that the manufacturing company is authentic and that they have return policies. Most websites also offer discounts on wholesale purchases of medical uniforms. So if the price of a solid color scrub is $15.99 then you can get it for as less as $10 if you buy on wholesale.

The internet offers different payment options, shipping and return policies and bargain prices. All you have to do is choose the medical scrubs you want and one which is allowed by your hospital authorities.
