Golf Academy: Attending During A Recession
If you are considering attending a golf academy in the near future, you are not alone. With a recession in full swing, many people have decided this is a good time to hit the books. Going back to school is popular during a recession because it helps you weather the tough economic times, and gives you new job skills to help you find better work when times get better.
Attending a golf academy during a recession is a good idea because regardless of what the economy is doing, the industry is still growing. It is a popular American pastime, and because many golfers are business class people, the industry should be able to pull through during difficult times.
Here are some tips for attending a golf academy during tough economic times.
Aggressively seek out financial aid. In good economic times, many scholarships and other forms of financial aid go unclaimed, because people don't have as difficult a time paying for their own education. Do the math, though: Right now employment is down, and college enrollment is up. This means more people going to school, and fewer people with the money to pay for it on their own.
As you can see, it is likely that there will be a lot more competition for financial aid right now, so it is important not to delay if you wish to apply for scholarships, grants, and other forms of assistance. If you snooze, you lose, and you really can't afford to lose right now.
Continue working while you attend school. Unless you get really lucky, and either get enough scholarship money to pay your living expenses or are able to live for free with your family, you will still need a reliable source of income. It is therefore in your best interests to continue working while you are in school.
The university you attend should be able to help you find a job in the industry. Most schools these days at the very least offer resume building help and interviewing practice, though the best colleges typically offer some sort of job placement. Working in an internship or a part time job right now may not pay very much to start, but it will supplement your financial aid at the same time as it provides you with valuable experience in the industry.
Choose a golf academy that will help boost your career in the future. With any luck, the economy will be in better shape when you graduate, but you still need to make sure you choose your college wisely. Specifically, you should choose a school that will look good on your resume and help you to land a job after graduation.
Reputation and the quality of the educational program are both important. If your resume boasts the name of a golf academy that is well known for turning out skilled graduates, employers will be more likely to hire you over other applicants with no such recommendations. But name alone won't help you: You also need to be sure the school offers a well rounded program that will do a good job of preparing you for your career. No matter what institution you attend, make sure it can offer you both of these things.
Attending a golf academy can help you to weather a recession, not to mention to come out the other side with valuable job skills that will give you a head start in the job market when the economy comes round again. However, just as important as what you do during a recession, is how you do it. Hopefully these tips will help you make good decisions about what to do with your education and your career!
