Searching Essex Jobs, Find The Perfect Position

Out of work, searching for a job, where do you start? If you find yourself in the position of being unemployed how do you find job vacancies in your specific area which are relevant to your search criteria? I recently started looking for Essex jobs, Essex being the area which best covered how far I could travel to work, I started out quite enthusiastically, entertaining thoughts of finding my perfect job in the perfect location, providing me with perfect working hours, I soon took off the rose tinted glasses and realised there would be far more involved in my quest for a job than positive thinking.

Having been in my previous employment for quite some time, having children, no childcare resources and limited experience and required skills the task ahead became very daunting right from the onset, my search started with scouring the job columns in papers, knowing these papers straight way would provide me with Essex jobs, unfortunately I found that most of the positions offered in the papers were catering vacancies or work within care homes, these vacancies seemed to crop up time and again.

I had signed on with the job centre thinking this was the next port of call, I sat with a consultant at the centre who asked whether I was looking for Essex Jobs, Suffolk Jobs or would I look at the possibility of taking my search further perhaps for jobs in the city, of which would definitely be out of the question due to circumstances. At the end of my interview I came away with a couple of potential job leads which I felt quite confident about, also having been advised by the lady in the job centre of other sources to look through, including recruitment agencies and internet resources.

Another aspect of applying for jobs I realised would be updating my CV, I hadn't used my CV since leaving school and starting work, so there would be various aspects which would need amending or adding to, such as work experience gained and new skills I possessed, before enclosing it with any application in my ongoing search for the perfect Essex job.

Revised Curriculum Vitae in hand, I now started browsing the internet for anything which would fit with skills I had to offer. I used Google to point me in the right direction searching for Jobs in Essex, Essex Jobs, Essex recruitment, this returned plenty of sites which would provide useful information, many of the sites were online recruitment agencies, these, I found to be a good resource to use, be able to refine searches further from Essex jobs to Colchester, Clacton or Maldon jobs for example, then refining your search criteria to specifically target your area of expertise from office jobs to executive positions.

The drawback with many of these sites I found was that if you signed up for email alerts of when jobs matching your search criteria came in, you would end up being inundated with emails which realistically couldn't be further from your search criteria of Essex Jobs. (This is not always the case and you do quickly find out which sites work well and which to avoid).

I spent a couple of hours a day searching through jobs sites, applying direct to companies. Many vacancies I applied for were thanks to a few reliable recruitment consultants, providing very relevant leads or leads which closest matched my criteria, even broadening my search for positions by opening my eyes to other possibilities which perhaps I hadn't thought about. I applied for many positions, being notified by email sometimes of interviews; I attended every interview even if I thought that perhaps it wouldn't be right for me, gaining invaluable interview experience and of course suffered the knockbacks as everyone does before finding the right job.

At the end of my search I found my perfect Essex job, to my surprise because of signing with recruitment agencies, who made me realise I could offer more skills than I first thought, opening my eyes to other areas which I fitted into, the job which I accepted was better than I had first started searching for, although it was still in Essex!
