Becoming a holiday rep may seem more like a holiday rather than work if you take the pursuits of the many television programmes following the industry at face value. However, it is not all partying and entertaining, a large part of the work is administrative and organisational, trying to keep everyone happy and ensuring all enjoy their holiday. Subsequently the stresses of this job are immense; keeping everyone happy is a near impossible task. Responsibility is key to performing the role and hence a great deal of maturity is vital. Ultimately as a rep you represent the holiday company abroad and hence must keep to their standards of operation. Hours are long and arduous but the rewards can make it all worthwhile.

There are some people with specialist skills who may find it very easy to find work abroad. Instructors are in almost constant demand in fields such as diving, rock climbing, golf and horse riding. If you have the skills in one of these disciplines it is possible to teach and also spend time in the resort. This can be considered the best of both worlds as you are able to do something you love and get paid for it. The standard however is usually quite high and in many cases official certification will be required.

If you are serious about working in travel jobs it is highly advisable to learn a second language. This will make you extremely appealing to employers and will put you in good stead to receive job offers. Multi-lingual employees are always in high demand and by having extra languages you are especially wanted in the travel industry. It may take some time to learn but it will be ultimately beneficial.

Many people have travel jobs and live an existence that allows them to enjoy the best of both worlds. With so many different types of employment out there it is possible to find almost any type of work abroad.
