Individuality In Your Motorcycle Gear - The Customized Rider
So, you want to stand out from the crowd. That's part of why you bought a motorcycle in the first place, right? To blaze your own trail. To be unique. To experience the sense of freedom you can only achieve by riding. Even though there may be thousands of motorcycles designed in the same way that yours is, adding your own touches to it is a sure way to make it your own. Here are some suggestions for things you can do.
First things first, let's talk safety. There are specific things that you need to have in order to protect yourself. But even though there are staples, you can definitely put several pieces together to make it uniquely your persona.
A helmet is a must, for example. Everyone who rides should be wearing one. But why not have one specially detailed to match the design of your motorcycle?
Or if the matching look doesn't do anything for you, there's always the option of having something specific put on it. If you like the spookier side of life, maybe a skull with glowing, red eyes. If you are a speed freak, then flames are a great choice. If you want to show off a whimsical side, then maybe a favorite cartoon character. The only thing that you are limited by is your imagination, really.
There are many other things that you may consider buying to increase your safety as you ride. Unlike the helmet, these aren't must-haves, but serve to either protect you against injury or just make you more comfortable while you're on your bike. The great thing about them all is that they also come together to fill in the entire picture of your riding persona.
If you went with a half helmet, then you might want protection for your eyes. You could go with a stylish pair of goggles for a look that is not often sported these days. Or maybe a pair of sunglasses instead for an entirely different statement.
Of course, if you choose a full helmet that protects you down to your chin, you might just go with a tinted visor for a complete, mysterious look. And that's just one, simple detail that can make a big difference. There are many other things to add to the picture. Gloves, chaps, you name it. It can all be customized.
And then we get to the bike itself. Everyone needs some storage space from time to time, no matter what they drive. Do you like the look of a fully installed motorcycle trunk? Or maybe you're an easy-going motorcycle backpack type. Saddle bags anyone? There's a great choice. Functional, removable, easy to use.
There are other things that you can change to make your trips a little more comfortable as well as make your bike more unique. The seat is a good candidate. You'll know if switching it out is a good idea after your first long trip. A back rest is another great option for improved comfort. And some enjoy it when the open road ahead is just a bit less open. A windshield will fix that quickly.
Many people choose to go a step further in their quest for a look that is unique to them by adding some decals to their motorcycle. There are many different styles to pick from, and it's something you can do that's easy an inexpensive. Others choose to spend some extra money and just get their bike painted to their specifications.
The list of things that you can do to make your bike, and your look while on it, totally your own is almost endless. There's no hurry. Everything will be there. Take some time to figure out what riding persona you want to adopt. But don't ever think that just because you can't afford to pay six figures for a completely custom bike, that you can't be unique on the road.
There's more than enough options to let you decide exactly who you want to be. And when you get down to doing it, creating your very own mystique is a whole lot of fun.
