So Who Really Wants A Hybrid Car

In an effort to combat congestion charges and also out of concern for the environment, chauffeur companies in London are taking to using hybrid vehicles in fleets of chauffeur driven cars.

Blue Sky Chauffeurs have just taken on five Lexus hybrid cars to add to their fleet of luxurious chauffeur driven cars in London to show their customers that they can have the comfort and high class luxury that comes with a quality car like Lexus but without compromising the environment.

This is becoming an important issue that should concern all road users - regardless of whether or not they are the drivers. We are all responsible for our carbon footprint and taking the initiative to choose a hybrid vehicle to hire simply has to be the best option. High flying businessmen want a chauffeur driven car that reflects their status, just as their own car would and that is why Blue Sky reckon the use of this Lexus will be such a hit.

The company are based in Harrow, which is convenient for Heathrow airport and the city centre and offers passengers a speedy, comfortable and luxurious solution to their transport issues without damaging the environment.

So what is it that makes these cars so eco-friendly? Well, a hybrid car runs on petrol and electricity. At slow speeds, which is often the norm in and around London, the car will automatically switch to all electricity which means that emissions are non-existent thus not polluting the atmosphere.

Chauffeur-First are another such chauffeur company that are switching to hybrid vehicles and have started off by adding Lexus to their fleet. They have taken on a total of 18 top of the range Lexus saloons to add to their fleet of BMW's, Mercedes and Audi's and intend to have another twenty before the end of the year. The majority of this company's work is made up of airport and inter-city transfers which means lots of small, slow journeys that would normally leak pollution into the environment and this is what the company hope to overcome with their new additions.

Chauffeur companies are not the only ones to see the benefit of a hybrid vehicle. Actor and author Henry Winkler also owns a Lexus hybrid and on his recent visit to the UK to promote his new series of children's books, will be using the same model on hire.

When it comes to high class vehicles, you can be sure every footballer on the planet will own one. However, they are not known for their reputation at being environmentally friendly with their jet set lifestyle.
This is the exact reason why Lexus have chosen to donate four of their hybrid vehicles to the Professional Footballers Association to encourage the players and all their followers to take a long, hard look at their impact on the environment and see if they can be swayed into using a hybrid.

The Lexus that have been donated to the PFA will be used by players from Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, Manchester City and Middlesborough and hopefully this coverage will do the job of enlightening people to the fact that hybrid cars do not have to be the underperforming vehicles of yesterday but are actually as equally as impressive as any other fuel driven car yet less damaging to the environment.

The manufacturer is expecting all models of the hybrid to come under close attention, not just from potential buyers but also potential thieves, which is why they have made a point of going to the sort of lengths that have earned it the Security Award in the 2008 Fleet World Honours making it a bit of a nightmare for would-be thieves!
