A Brief Overview Of The Akiles Megabind 1 Plastic Comb Binding Machine

The Akiles Megabind 1 is a great choice of binding system if your needs include solid construction and high quality. The Megabind 1 has the Akiles heritage of binding products, making it worth some serious consideration. The Megabind 1 is built with all-metal construction and specializes in legal-sized documents. The binder has a manual punch system and a comb opener. The Megabind 1 was made to be plastic comb binding system that works for mid-sized binding projects.

The features of the Megabind 1 includes a highly useful depth of punch margin control, allowing the user to select the punch options by the distance of a hole to the edge of the document. This ensures that all sizes of plastic comb spines can be bound by the Megabind 1. This includes the very thin, 3/16” diameter spine, as well as the thick2”diameter spine and all diameters in-between.

The Megabind 1 also includes 24 fully disengageable dies. The dies allow you to prevent any hole from punching and increases capacity to any document length up to 14”. In addition, The Megabind 1 includes a 14” long plastic comb opener, allowing you to open the combs and insert the pages easily and efficiently. This feature is helpful when you are trying to bind several books at one time.

The Megabind 1 has two handles. With this feature, one can punch with one of the handles and operate the comb-opener with the other handle. The handles make the Megabind much more effective than the other, single-handled machines. This can cause additional wear and tear to a binding unit by activating the comb opener during punching (or vice versa).

The Megabind 1 also includes a manual punching mechanism that can punch through 20 sheets of 20lb paper each lift. This range means that the Megabind 1 works very well for most small to medium sized applications. In addition, it Includes an effective and efficient sizing guide, located on the machine’s table. The guide is great for the proper comb-size for a project – small or large, thick or thin.

The machine’s manual punch works very well for small to medium sized companies who want to bind on a regular basis, but there are certain features that are a bit limiting. One example would be a company that binds a great number of documents, or binds projects quite often would do much better with an option with an electric punch. The sister-machine to the Megabind 1, however, is the Megabind 1E, which does have an electric punching mechanism, for larger-volume applications
The Megabind 1 a good binder and an even better value, but the updated machine, the Megabind 2 has a simple to use closer that close spiral-o 19 loop wire, adding slightly to the cost of the machine, but giving you another binding style for under $75 difference. This makes the Megabind 2 a very attractive choice. The Megabind 1, however, is very reliable, and built to last with construction similar to all of Akiles well-designed binders.

With the two-handle component, the life of the binding machine can last longer as long as you don not punch through unsuitable materials. For instance, you should never punch; more than 2 clear covers at once. Additionally, you should never punch wood, metal and other heavy-duty materials that can damage the punch heads of the machine.

The Akiles Megabind 1 is the perfect option for companies in search of a highly versatile, very reliable legal size plastic comb-binding machine. Potential buyers, however, may want to purchase the Megabind 2, which also allows users to bind documents with wire for a small additional cost. That being said, the Megabind 2 may be the best value. It all depends on the volume of binding that you do on a daily basis. ,

Whether you choose the Megabind 1 or the Megabind 2, however, you will end up with a reliable binder that won’t need to be replaced unless you eventually need a binder with higher capacity capability. In the event that this happens, an electric punch machine will be the right choice. So consider your choices carefully and choose the right option.
