Welcome To The New Era Of Education

It seems there is little you can't do on-line these days, from dating to shopping and organising your banking. People all over the world use the Internet for personal and business purposes, including learning new skills. Whether it's a new language for leisure or learning a new skill for your job, developing new skills on-line has many benefits. Health and Safety e-learning is an excellent example of how cost effective and convenient modern day education has now become.

So what exactly do we mean by e-learning? It's hard to summarise in one sentence because learning can refer to all manner of content and purposes however generally it refers to internet based training. E-learning involves developing new skills and learning new information, through the use of computers and technology and can be done either alone on a pc or in a classroom environment with others. There are no hard and fast rules for how it should be carried out, which is perhaps the reason why it is becoming so popular; it's flexible and easily tailored to meet varying needs.

Another benefit of e-learning is that you become fully engaged with what is being taught. Sitting in a classroom and absorbing information that it verbally provided to us isn't the best method of learning for everyone. E-learning however requires participants to actively interact with the information that is being taught; therefore learners become more engaged with the subject matter. As a result, information is taken in and more likely to be remembered, adding value to the learning, for both employers and employees.

An increasing form of Internet based learning is health and safety e-learning. Health and safety training is a legal requirement for all places of work. Ensuring staff and employees are fully prepared in the event of an accident or emergency for example, is imperative. Training should be provided to all new staff members when they start a new role. Not all companies are fortunate to have a big budget for health and safety training sessions nor the space and time to complete them. For this reason, health and safety e-learning is an ideal solution.

For employers it's a less expensive way to deliver health and safety training to employees. Training can often be completed from the employees own workstation, reducing the need to cover travel and training venue costs.

Health and Safety e-learning can lead to significant financial benefits for organisations. By signing staff up to e-learning programmes, it shows the employees that their employers are happy to invest in them, increasing staff retention. Providing training can also increase productivity, as employees become more satisfied in their work and therefore can reduce levels of absenteeism.

There are a number of different health and safety e-learning courses available, so it's important to choose the right one to suit your company requirements. Typical subjects include understanding exactly what is involved in health and safety, legal requirements and what is involved in the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974, regulations, risk management, accident prevention and monitoring and reviewing health and safety procedures (including audits and inspections).

Course will also vary in length and cost however they don't have to take a great deal of time; some may only take up to thirty minutes which means it can easily be worked around your daily work-load.

Other health and safety e-learning training may include office safety, food safety, fire safety, risk assessment and environmental awareness.
Health and safety in the workplace is an essential part of business. If regulations and legal requirements are not met, employers can face fines or much worse, should an employee suffer an injury or death on their premises.

It's important that all members of staff are made aware of all the health and safety procedures, even down to where the first aid kit is kept and where the emergency exits are located. Health and Safety e-learning is a fast, convenient and cost effective method of ensuring you tick all these boxes for keeping staff protected and safe in the workplace.
