Intelligently designed AIT-2 Backup Storage Tape
Advanced intelligent tape is a high density format developed by Sony which is a global leader in manufacturing high quality backup storage products. AIT tape technology is a latest advanced innovative format that ensure accurate high density recording at lowest cost per GB. AIT-2 tape is the second version of advanced intelligent tape. Sony AIT 2 tape has the capability to store more data volumes in lesser time with high level of accuracy and reliability. Therefore the AIT-2 tape media saves time and cost. The AIT-2 cartridge has a built-in MIC chip. MIC chip further boosts the performance and data access speed of the AIT backup tape. MIC architecture has revolutionized the data retrieval and storage. Information pertaining to system log and other defined by the user are stored in the MIC chip. MIC chip is very advantageous and many applications benefit from its stored information. MIC chip is very useful in real time data acquisition, hierarchical storage management, film editing and video server.
Sony controls the AIT-2 tape format. The compressed and uncompressed capacitates of typical AIT-2 tapes are 130GB and 50GB respectively. Compression ratio of AIT backup tape products is 2.6:1 and its data transfer rate ranges form 6MB/second (uncompressed data) to 12MB/second (compressed data). When compared with the AIT-1 tapes, the AIT-2 tape media has double the transfer speed and recording capacity as well. Sony AIT-2 tape cartridge is more advantageous, user friendly and economical.
Sony AIT-2 tape format provides better compression ration because it uses a unique and advanced coding mechanism. Other advantageous and important feature of AIT-2 backup tape is the WORM functionality. AIT-2 is the first version of AIT technology in which the highly reliable technology of WORM was incorporated. Sony has also introduced the turbo variants of AIT media format. The AIT-2 turbo cartridges can store 80GB of uncompressed information that extends up to 208GB in compressed mode.
Remote MIC chip is the most commendable and reliable mechanism added to the AIT-2 tape cartridge which helps to speed up the data searching & data access. Everyone wants to save time and money and there is also a famous saying that "time is money". So the organizations can save both time and money by adopting the Sony AIT-2 tape format as it performs backup operations at lowest cost, with unmatched data transfer and data searching speed. AIT tape format is very robust, reliable and cost efficient.
Automation and tape drive mechanism introduced by AIT tape format has set new standards for quality, durability, efficiency and performance. MIC chip allows fast data searching and also helps in quick media loading. Useful defined information and other valuable information pertaining to search map & system log are safely kept in the MIC memory chip. This useful information assists the tape drive to perform its operations at a high speed with high level of reliability and efficiency. MIC memory chip accelerates the performance and speed of AIT-2 backup tape thus making AIT format more efficient than other media technologies. The data managers prefer AIT-2 tape technology because it is more economical, robust, user friendly and ensures data integrity.
