Points to Consider About Laptop Computers

A laptop computer is similar to a desktop computer. The major difference between a desktop and a laptop is the size and weight that makes laptop computer portable. This is a small machine that weights about 3 to 6 pounds normally and can even weigh more when you go for a high performance one. The word laptop computer has now been replaced by the word notebook. Since, manufacturers have made laptop computers very small and portable, people started calling it notebook, notebook computer or notepad.

A laptop has all the features of a desktop computer with an added feature of portability. A laptop computer runs on a single battery along with an AC/DC adapter that charges the battery along with supplying power to the computer. As soon as the power is unplugged, the laptop starts running on the battery without any interference or without rebooting the computer. While purchasing a laptop computer there are certain points that must not be ignored as most of the users do because they are unaware of some of the facts about them.

1. Processor
The processor is the heart of any computer and without it you can not run your computer. As the processing power increases so does the price of your laptop computer. You should be aware of the work you will perform on your laptop computer and then decide the processing power you need. If you are in the field of programming, video making, audio editing, etc you will require a powerful processor, otherwise, you can opt for a processor that will perform all your tasks.

2. Storage Capacity
Storage capacity depends on your area of application. If you want to store large videos or images on your laptop computer then you should go for a higher storage. Also, there are two types of HDD (Hard Disk) available in the market; IDE and SATA. IDE is slower than SATA in terms of performance and also costs more.

3. Memory
Just like we human beings have our own memory, computers also require memory to store the work temporarily. Considering the present scenario, 2 GB RAM or memory is recommended for every laptop computer for smooth running.

4. Display
If you want portability out of your laptop computer, then you should go for a laptop with 12 inch or 14 inch LCD. LCD contributes about 30to 40 percent of the total weight of a laptop computer and so you will find it heavy to carry if you go for a 17 inch or 19 inch LCD. Since, LCD causes no side effects on your eyes; you can always work without fear of losing your eye sight.

5. Extra Storage Device
You do not need to buy an additional hard disk for extra storage but you should always choose a DVD Writer to store your important documents and other files. You can also opt for a BLU RAY device but that will cost you almost half the price of your laptop computer. The best choice is to go for a DVD writer because DVDs are cheap and offer you 4 GB 8 GB of storage capacity.

Above are the main points that you must consider while purchasing a laptop computer. There are several manufacturers around the world offering hundreds of models. You should purchase a laptop computer from the manufacturers that allow you to customize the laptop computer. This way you can build your own laptop computer and within your budgeted price.
