*The GBC Proclick Pronto P2000 is an automated binding system designed to finish documents with GBC 's new Proclick binding strips.*The P2000 does not include a punch. Instead, it is designed to be paired with one of GBC 's modular interchangeable die punches or automated punching systems.
*This system is designed for large volume users who are looking for a fast way to bind documents that are editable and contemporary.
*The Proclick Pronto P2000 is ideal for printers, copy shops, in plant printers and large corporations who need to bind large numbers of documents quickly and either already own or have the budget to purchase a modular binding punch.
Strengths / Features:
*The Proclick Pronto P2000 is incredibly fast as far as binding systems go. All you need to do is insert the document into the sizing channel and it will tell you the size of spine that you need. Once you are sure that you have the right size cartridge loaded into the machine you simply place the document into binding slot. The machine will make sure that your holes are lined up and will then insert and close the spine onto your document. The bind cycle takes about six seconds. This means that you can finish as many as 450 documents per hour using this system. That is incredible.
*The P2000 is the size of desktop laser printer and it looks like it belongs in an office environment. Many pieces of binding equipment look industrial and don't fit well inside a professional office. The P2000 was designed with the office environment in mind. It looks like a large desktop printer and is simple to operate. It even includes an easy to read LCD panel to let you know the status of the machine.
*Many of the larger GBC modular binding machines only come with a 90 day warranty. However, the Proclick P2000 comes with a full one year on site warranty. This means that if your machine has a problem in the first year GBC will come to your location and fix it for you. You can't ask for better service than that.
*The documents that are produced by the P2000 are designed to both look great and be editable. The Proclick binding spines used to bind these documents can easily be zipped open and closed using a simple zipper tool. This makes this binding system ideal for organizations with sales representatives that need to make changes to their documents in the field. It is also great for binding users manuals and other pieces of documentation that need to be updated on a regular basis.
Weaknesses / Limitations:
*One of the main limitations of the Proclick Pronto binding machines is that they are only able to handle letter sized documents. Organizations that use oversized covers with their documents or need to bind documents with a binding edge that is not eleven inches will not be able to use this machine. There really isn't a way around this so it is something to keep in mind.
*The Proclick Pronto P2000 is also limited in the sizes and colors of binding strips that it can use. Currently there are three different sizes of spines for this machine: small (5/16"), medium (1/2") and large (5/8"). This allows you to use this machine to bind up to 100 sheets of 20lb paper. You can choose from four different colors which include: black, navy blue, white and frost. Organizations that need to bind documents larger than 5/8" or need a different colored binding spine will need to select a different binding system.
*Although I already mentioned it, I will state it again. The P2000 does NOT have a binding punch. This machine is strictly a finishing unit and is designed to be used with a modular binding punch. Additionally, the binding punch must have a special Proclick Pronto oversize square hole die set. Currently these die sets are only available for GBC modular punches and I do not believe that Rhino-Tuff or Renz are planning on releasing this dieset for their machines any time soon.
*The supplies for this machine must be purchased in special cartridges in order to be used by this machine. It cannot be used with loose binding spines or any other type of binding supplies. GBC is the only company that makes supplies for this machine and the supplies can be difficult to find at a discount.
Recommendation:
*The Proclick P2000 binding system offers one of the fastest binding experiences available from any binding style on the market.
*Documents bound with this system also look great, offer the ability to completely wrap around and can be easily edited. These things are making Proclick one of the hottest new binding styles in the United States.
*This machine is a great choice for large organizations or print shops that either already own a GBC modular binding punch or can justify the purchase of a new binding punch.
*However, this is not a good system for organizations that need to bind custom sized documents, need custom colored binding spines or for companies who don't own a modular binding punch.
