Informational Guide About Gun Holsters

In general when it comes to gun holsters you will find that they come in all sorts of different shapes, sizes and colors. But one of the aspects that always stays the same is the importance of a holster. These holsters need not only be durable in the way they are made but, they also need to be designed so that you the user can wear the holster comfortably but also be able to draw your gun from the shaft efficiently.

Of course it all depends on what you want and what you feel comfortable with but, if you are new to holsters you should know that there are several different "types" of gun holsters you can wear such as; shoulder, belt, thigh, ankle and even handbags for the women!

For the part where the gun sits, you will usually find one of two "safety" devices that overlap the gun. Usually this is either a snap fastener which will include a "strap" that goes over the gun and connects to the other side of the holster.

Or you will merely have a flap of material that isn't necessarily "snappable". Depending on which one you have for your gun holster, you will need to use different types of force. Many snaps take some actual force to actuate the opening whereas other gun holsters can easily be opened just by flipping the gun up against it. Out of all the brands and types of gun holsters available out there the Safariland Holster has been rated the highest of them all. In fact, the Safariland Holster is used by 70% of the law enforcement professionals. Of course as you can see from the options listed above, every single holster is different. Some of them include lights, different materials, shapes, colors, sizes, etc.

As with all holsters and the way you decide to carry them that will depend completely upon you. For example, some people prefer the shoulder holster over the ankle holster because they think that the action between holster to draw is the quickest and easiest.

Whereas an ankle holster might be better used for someone that's in a sitting position instead of a standing position. The belt holster is another popular carry but some people prefer not to use it simply because its not comfortable for them. The belt holsters also come in concealment types and regular holsters.

The concealment holsters are good for those of you that want to carry your gun but you don't want there to be any chances that its seen. Again, it all depends on what you prefer and find to be the most efficient in comfortability and in use.
