Creating A Unique Baby Shower-Be A Big Hit WIth The Guests

Ready to host a unique baby shower? You can do this in many ways and accomplish your goal even if you are on a tight budget.

If you are the creative kind of baby shower hostess you may want to begin by making your own baby shower invitations. Start with ready-made invitations and dress them up a bit or create them on your computer or in your craft room. Baby shower invitations can be made with plain cardstock cards, rubber stamps, stickers, baby-themed papers and embellishments. Finish them off with ribbon or fibers tied together and you will be on your way to creating step number one of a unique baby shower. You may also want to make matching thank-you notes for the new mom to send.

Choose an unusual theme for the baby shower. Consider an old-fashioned tea party using your grandmothers dishes or pretty antique tea cups and saucers. Choose a menu featuring a variety of hot and cold teas served with scones and whipped cream. Decorate with Victorian pieces and flower arrangements.

Maybe a spa theme sounds like more fun and relaxing, too. You can actually have the shower at the spa where the mom-to-be and other guests will have the opportunity to enjoy a massage or facial. Plan your own spa party for the guest of honor and feature manicures, foot massages or other delightful indulgences. You should be able to find someone who will come right to your home and provide these services. Send each of the guests home with pampering products like lotions, oils, nail polish or hair products.

Consider having the baby shower in a community room if your home is small. These rooms can often be rented for a small fee and can accommodate many guests. You will be able to bring your own decorations and foods but won't have to worry about tables and chairs, coffee pots, etc.

Even if you are on a tight budget you can host a wonderful baby shower. Use flowers from your garden to decorate or visit a local grocery store and choose a few bouquets of flowers that are reasonably priced. Fill small vases and containers and use the flowers and candles as your decorations. You can make place cards and make the food yourself or enlist the help of others. You could also talk to the guests and see if they are willing to share the cost of having the baby shower at a tearoom or local restaurant.

Another unique idea would be to plan the baby shower entirely around the theme of the nursery. Use invitations that showcase the nursery theme. Let's say the nursery theme is going to be the circus. Choose circus table wear, decorations, etc. Not only will the shower be unique, it will also encourage the guests to choose gifts that will furnish the nursery.

It is not hard to create a unique baby shower and it is also a lot of fun.
