Home Schooling without Homework

Home schooling allows kids to learn or study without any kind of pressure. It can be a pleasure for them without having to prove their abilities. Home schooling is also beneficial as it gives parents the opportunity to understand their child better. Depending upon the child's strengths and weaknesses, assigning work differently will ensure that child understands and undertakes learning.

When children undertake learning from experience through their own work, exploring information and trying to understand facts by themselves can prove to be a better form of learning. Rather, it would be learning in the real sense. There is no kind of pressure and with due consideration the child can complete their given tasks properly. If a child is slow then home schooling can help, as they would not be under continuous pressure to catch up with other children.

Charlotte Mason, the Christian educator's schools, never gave homework, learning literature and mastery by narration was the preferred method in the elementary year. Parental attention and learning from experience proves to be a better way to remember things. Usually with home schooling what is more important is that the child understands concepts properly and not how much time is required to understand them. There may be the need for homework in a formal school, as it may be considered to understand the grasping of the children. However, with home schooling, as the child is undertaking everything at home with parental guidance, homework is not required. Rather it is possible to design the curriculum such that it contributes to productivity of the child.

As the child learns in a homely environment he is more relaxed. Sometimes, some children may be afraid of a teacher for no particular reason, and may not understand what is being taught nor have the courage to get it clarify any doubts with the teacher. This would not be a problem in home school settings. The teachers may not have enough time to solve each and every query personally. In such cases, parents can build up confidence my sorting out varied questions immediately. When you are home schooling kids, more than the homework, the practical way of learning proves to be more useful. Children can learn in leisure running, climbing, yelling, practicing instruments and even handling special chores. They can socialize with neighbors; observe natural beauty etc, which is not possible at a public school.

Instead of having to do homework, when home schooling children learn literature not from the notes of teacher but from their own reading and commenting of literary work and putting it into words oral or written. Explaining by teacher may be bore sometimes for children. But if they do it on their own they would feel interested. With homework, children tend to become fed up sometimes and you may even notice the lack of knowledge and ideas in learning that way. Learning through homework is seen as a fast output from child's end. A child may simply get the homework over with just to get rid of what they deem as a burden. However, this does not mean that the child has grasped everything. A regular course of learning at home could be the perfect antidote for every home schooled child. The time and effort on both, the parent and the child, will ensure that all goes down well even without homework.
