Pros and Cons of Educating Your Child At Home

When you take a decision that can have a great impact on your life, it is always best to consider its pros and cons. And I am sure, when you think of home education for your child; you would certainly weigh the positive and negative effects of it. Although the success rate of home education is high, we all want to cross check the facts. However, let me also add that the pros and cons of the effectiveness of home education may also differ from family to family, as it entirely depends on how you accept home education for your child.

Pros

. You get to spend quality time with your kids. The family ties become stronger and better. In today's fast paced life, one hardly manages to spare some time for the family. However with home education, you can teach your child the importance to spend time with the family.

. You can see your child growing in front of your eyes 24/7 and can keep a watch on his every move. You can make be sure that he is not a part of any wrong group. Your observation will also help you to discover his hidden talent and help him to develop it.

. Your child gets the freedom to be away from any pressure. As he shares a good equation with the family, the child will feel free to raise any doubts and questions and receive clear solutions and answers to learn lessons quickly and clearly with your support. This can help him concentrate better and grasp more than what he would receive at the public school.

. You get to arrange trips to the parks, museum, zoo and many other activities, as per your convenience. Such trips are important for a child's growth. Public school may not arrange many such trips, but you can and help your child explore the outside world.

. You can take up a teaching pattern that suits your child. Many schools have a boring system of education. In home schooling, you can choose a fun and easy method to take up lessons.

. You also get to choose the right curriculum for your child and bring out the best in the child. Your child would be saved from going through the pressures of studying all the other subjects that may not be required.

. You also save on paying exorbitant fees to schools and instead make savings.

Cons

. There are not many negative points concerning home education. However, some parents may find it difficult to give up ones earnings. If the total family earning is low, then it might not be easy to leave the job, and sit at home to teach.

. A child who takes home education may not find it easy to bond with the outside world. However, if you engage your child with hobby classes or let him spend some time with friends, it wouldn't be a problem.

. When you take up the responsibility of educating your child at home, you hardly find time for yourself. Thus you should be ready to make this sacrifice.

. In home schooling, the child's lessons become your top priority; only to leave everything else aside and this can be frustrating at times.

Overall home schooling has several advantages, but it all depends on you and your child. If you were ready to make some compromises and adjustments, educating your child at home would not be a tough task.
