How to Define Usefulness of Thesis Paper Sources

1.Relevance
When a researcher is about to start, he tends to be overwhelmed by the loads of sources he find relevant for his thesis papers. He sees every possible connection to everything that he reads. It may be healthy on the start but prolongation of this stage will eventually cause bedlam on the entire writing process.
Not all sources which seem to be using the key term of the thesis topic is applicable on the chosen proposal. The scope and limitations plus the thesis statement will determine the validity of the sources.
Work is lessen if the researcher makes use of the table of contents and index wisely. More often than not, it is a waste of the time to go through in each of the chapters of the book.
If there are too many sources available, it is a must to determine which of them will strongly support the chosen hypothesis.

2.Reliability
It is not enough that the source provides the strongest bearing for the thesis papers. There is a great need to check the credibility of the source.
The source must check the author of the given source. A brief research on the background of the writer will somehow give the researcher an idea of how credible the author is to take a stand on a certain argument. This attempt serves as a detective-like step to sense biases on the part of the author.
There is a great need to provide recent sources. Put in mind that thesis papers writing is about coming up with a theory that will be useful for the present. Though some topics require old sources, it is always useful to integrate recent information so as to present new ideas.

Relevance and reliability of sources goes hand in hand to determine a quality thesis papers. These two determinants will ensure the researcher of strong grounds for the entire thesis papers writing.

4.Resourcefulness
The ability to make use and utilize your resources will help you squeeze out all the important juices of your thesis paper. Put in mind that everything you need is accessible you just have to organize and sort things out to make a meaningful result. Researching is like being able to see the gold mine from a bunch of rocks. If you dig deep enough, you’ll surely get something of relevant importance.

5.Interpret the Facts
What most college and even graduate students fail to do is to be able to make sense of the facts on their own. They often times rely on other people’s statements and conclusion which only makes their efforts futile. It is your thesis and your voice should be in your paper.

Interpret the data you’ve gathered and try to understand the story it’s trying to tell you. Most people get dizzy around overwhelming facts and numbers and statistics, but these are just straight facts and you need to look at the bigger picture instead of focusing to small details.

6.Read other Thesis Papers
This is very important. Reading other college graduate’s thesis papers will help you understand the format, the style and even the tone of writing you must incorporate in your work. Not only will you have a guide, but you’ll also see some points or ideas where you can improve your work. Though you must be very careful to copy other people’s work and add words taken exactly from other resources. Plagiarism is a big crime in thesis writing and you must avoid this.

Copying a 7 word phrase exactly from another resource is already considered plagiarism. Be original. Don’t rehash other people’s work and make it your own.
