In the words "va, doamna, buna, ma, sa" the letter "a" is pronounced like in the English word "Sir". In the words "placere, ce, faci, place", "ce" and "ci" are pronounced like in "teacher" and in the words "cat" and "cand" the letter "a" sounds like in the Russian "you".

You may think that Romanian is easy. Well it is not at all, because there are some specific sounds, whose pronunciation cannot be associated with their spelling. For example, English-speaking people find it difficult to pronounce the Romanian "r". It sounds really funny uttered by them because their "r" as you well know is specific.

To continue with, French-speaking people may find it difficult to cope with the Romanian sound "h", because they simply cannot pronounce it. As far as the sound represented by the letters "b" or "o" is concerned, we can say that it is the most difficult sound for English speakers, whereas for Russians it can be quite easy because they have the equivalent sound, represented by the vowel in the Russian equivalent of "you".

Anyway, these basic phrases in Romanian can be quite easy, but you need interaction though with native speakers in order to develop fluency, to acquire specific accent, and not to sound funny.

Furthermore, any Romanian language trainers, even if they have to teach only basic phrases in Romanian, they must be aware of each trainees learning style. For example, some people learn better, when the subject is directly related to their life, others need charts and diagrams; in addition, some learners need practicing with a partner or work in groups, or learn a craft or skill with members of a community.

To conclude, before trying to teach a foreign person even basic phrases in Romanian, you must check his or her learning style and get ready for an adventurous but funny journey to the universe of an exciting language.
