When you really sit down and think about it, there are over 1,400,000,000 people around the world who have access to the Internet and not all of these people speak English or French or German. When these people visit sites online I would think they would almost expect the sites to be customized so that they can read the site in their preferred language. In some cases, as a person that speaks mainly English and broken French, I have gone to sites before where the only language available was one in which I did not speak, so I know how frustrating this can be! Now back when I first started the site, I had no way of knowing that my foodie site would be so popular with other people across the border so this doesn't necessarily mean I have to have the translation service available right away, but what it does mean is that you should keep an eye on your stats, if you start getting people from other countries and it's a substantial amount, it's a good idea to go ahead and do something like this.
