Ukrainian Women - Between Hobbies and Work

Ukrainians are interesting companions and friends and they have broad knowledge in man areas in life and science. What actually interests them?

Life is hectic even in Ukraine. Women there usually work from an early age in order to be able to help their families. They are accustomed to earn their own money and to contribute with some financial help to the household. Usually men are those who work harder and actually bring the big money home, but ladies are always trying to be equal. The truth is that the global tendency is that men are better paid than women.

Women usually prefer to work something more or less related to their hobbies. Many of them dedicate their interests and career to design and interior decoration. Others prefer the fashion fields and run their own small boutiques for hand-made clothes. Everything is up to women's personality and luckily there is not a general model.

Ukrainians prefer to be engaged with something that reveals their personality. Some ten or twenty years ago they were expressing their emotions using hobbies like sewing, cooking or knitting. Today these crafts are still popular but modern girls have a sense of business and some of them prefer to organize the production of hand-made sweaters rather than knit them by themselves.

It is not surprising that many companies nowadays prefer to hire Ukrainian women who have graduated in business and economics. These ladies manage to organize the team and with their natural tact to motivate, it gets the best from the project or the production. They do this because often they chose career which coincides to their interests and hobbies.

Some years ago the heavy industry was the only well developed sector in Ukraine. After the Chernobyl accident in the mid 80's and the changes in the political and governmental situation in 1991 the country lost most of the heavy plants due to bad management or closed them because these were not profitable.

Many women were working in them and actually these ladies were thrown on the street. There were many super-professionals in the areas of engineering or metallurgists who were forced to search for new career possibilities. Many of them had entrepreneur spirit and started their own small business initiatives like trading clothes for example.

In the first years of the democracy they were traveling to Turkey or Greece and were buying outlet or ready made clothes which later they were reselling in Ukraine. Local ladies have a sense of elegance and style. Those who started with trading clothes later started their own fashion lines or brands. Ukrainian women are truly unique and resourceful!

Today the market in the ex-Soviet republic is more or less allocated. For new players it is hard to find a good niche which is not already occupied by someone else who is bigger and more experienced. There are many girls who graduate in economics from the university and are looking for good job positions. They are really keen on business and sometimes they search for investors from abroad.

If you have started a romance with a Ukrainian woman do not try to tie her home. These girls are good in negotiations and if they ask you to help you in your business, do not smile and reject the offer. You will be surprised how much they know and how much they enjoy their hobby and work.
