14 Of The Real and Most Effective Gas Engine Fuel Savers
As there are a lot of marketing hype about devices that can help in getting better fuel mileage, we could get really confused about which one could really help.
But there are lots of simple ways to save on fuel and they cost absolutely nothing! These gas engine fuel savers have no advertisements; it only takes common sense and that drive to save up some bucks.
Here are some ideas on a possible 10 to 15% savings on fuel consumption - the real gas engine fuel savers.
Take it slow, why are you always in such a hurry anyway? This could really be boring to you or to your passengers if they are so used to fast driving but this will give you good savings.
Here are some facts you should know:
1. Consider 50mph speed, 10% over consumes 10 to 20% more gas because of higher air resistance. Is the time you save speeding up worth the cost of the gas you used up? As much as possible allow enough time before an appointment so you need not step on the gas unnecessarily.
2. Do what you can to lower air resistance. At the freeway, close the windows and your sunroof. You can enjoy these features during your leisure driving. Take out those roof racks too, if you don't need them, the added weight does not help, and it contributes to high resistance at the same time.
3. Unless the weather is insanely high, turn off the air conditioning when the weather is just fine outside; but you have to turn this on at least once a month to save a failing compressor.
4. Take off the load inside the car that just gives excess weight, which wastes gas. Do you really need all that junk resting in your trunk?
5. Know your way around if you're driving the same route regularly. You should be able to tell when the next red light would be so anticipate that so you can adjust your speed for a nice, smooth stop. Abrupt braking consumes much fuel.
6. Maintain your tire pressure to save fuel. If there is much resistance on the tires because there isn't enough pressure, there is much more energy consumed in manipulating it.
7. Bring your car for a service regularly. Change oil too. Check the brakes, tires, everything! Be cautious about those additives they advertise that promise this and that.
8. Use the cruise control of your car so you don't get too hasty with the speed at the highway.
9. A sure bet gas engine fuel saver is to check for better gas prices.
10. If applying for a credit card, check those that give gas discounts whenever you use the card to purchase something. There are promotions like this, so take advantage of it.
11. You can also go online and search for the cheapest sources for gas within your area. Fill up during night or when the temperature is a bit low or colder. Gas is denser at these times and you can therefore get more since gas stations charge by the volume of gas not by the density of fuel.
12. If you fill up at the same gas station regularly, observe when they refill their tanks. When the huge tanks are there for the refill, don't gas up yet. Wait for a day or two so you don't get the old stock liquid that has been stirred due to the refill. This sediment can decrease fuel efficiency.
13. Wait for the tank to reach its last quarter content before you fill up again. The lighter load on the tank can actually extend gas and you get perfect timing on low-cost gas days. But, this is not recommended during the cold seasons since they can cause fuel condensation in the tank. The risk of this is you can't tell when there's sudden emergency and you find your car running empty at the worst timing.
14. Might as well fill it up fully when you're buying gas. This saves cost of time for travel for the next fill and money too, since you don't know if the prices will go up on your next refill. Also, fill up your tank before the holiday since gas prices usually go up during that time.
These gas engine fuel saver tips are tried and tested so try and test them yourself now, if you haven't yet.
