6 Ways to Save Your Time, Money, and Energy During the Christmas Season
If you're anything like my husband than Christmas shopping is of no interest to you. And in fact maybe you've passed down the time consuming, stressful, expensive task to someone else in your family. Possibly that lucky wife or husband.
But wait a minute some of us like to go shopping. I certainly don't mind, but I'll be the first one to tell you I don't like crowds, hot shopping malls, dragging packages, and not being able to find my dumb size.
And, if you've got Multiple Sclerosis like my hubby, Christmas shopping is doubly a stressful, time consuming, expensive task that fatigues you and just doesn't make you feel good by the end of day. It could really bring on a bad bought of crabby- ness.
Robert my husband gave up the duties of shopping the first year we got married (13 years ago). Today, one or two days before Christmas he announces, Did you get anything for my Mom or Dad?
Yes dear, it's all done.
Robert says,Well, I just don't want to look like an idiot.
Great. I covered your butt. Don't worry.
With Christmas on its way, I've compiled my list of 6 ways to save time, money and energy for the upcoming Christmas season.
Not only does this apply to people with MS, but I think everyone in general whose trying to save time, money, and energy.
1. Give everyone cash. Yes, those grannies had a straight. Give them a crisp $10 or $20 dollar bill so they can spend it however way they wish. In fact you still can get those nifty little envelopes at the bank for free. Just think within 5-10 minutes you could have all the members of your family crossed off your list.
2. Shop online for your favorite major retailers.
Walmart, Target, Home Depot, Amazon
3. If you do want to go out to pick out those items, pick one store that will have everything. Wal-Mart Super Center I would say has everything included plus the kitchen sink.
4. Create your own homemade Christmas gifts cookies, candies, ornaments, blankets.
I love getting homemade Christmas cookies, fudge, and truffles from others. Normally I don't have the time or patience to make these things so I really appreciate them when they come my way. Besides, I love chocolate and I really have no self control when it comes my way.
5. Give the gift of time and love. Ask to spend special time with that individual in your family. Perhaps it's the child that needs special attention while the parents spend time together. Or it's the parent who you haven't spent time with.
6. Gift Cards I've recently noticed at my grocery store that you can buy these at the check out. What could be easier and who wouldn't enjoy going out to eat to their favorite restaurant. Examples of gift cards are: Red Lobster, Olive Garden, and a variety of other establishments.
Recently at church, Cross point Community Church our pastor was talking about how his family had decided not to exchange gifts.
So folks I'll sneak in the 7th way to save time, money, and energy.
Vote to give money to a charitable organization, one that needs money to benefit others.
