Buying Outdoor Play Equipment For Work, Rest And Even More Play

There is more to playing than just having fun. It has been shown that through play, children learn important social skills and behaviours that stay with them into adulthood. Interacting with peers and using the brain for creative play allows children to stamp their identity and understand their existence in a greater context. Life lessons in cause and effect can be learned in a safe environment and games that involve role play can enforce a sense of belonging or create social cohesion.

As a parent, these are all the things that we feel should be provided through play; but in an age where we fear for the safety of children out playing on their own; it can be a tough decision to allow children the freedom to experience such play. Fortunately, there is a safe alternative to this dilemma. There is no need to lock little ones up in front of a television and an X-Box just because you want to keep them safe; it is possible to create an outdoor paradise where kids can express themselves freely through play.

Whether you choose to embark on a community venture, private project or commercial facility to boost business, there is a wide variety of outdoor play equipment to choose from. Here we evaluate what equipment works best for the under fives, the five to ten age range and the delightful 'inbetweenies' that are notoriously hard to please.

Children that are under five are adventurous, brave and love to hide as well as make a run for the nearest exit! Colourful wooden outdoor play equipment will attract their attention, and a variety of textures will keep the little tykes amused for hours. Incorporating tunnels and holes to climb through will create a challenge and thereby strengthen determination as well as agility. Choosing equipment that includes a slide and a bridge is guaranteed to wear even the most active of under-fives out by giving them an opportunity to run, jump, slide and climb in the safety of one tower.

For children aged five to ten, themed outdoor equipment provides a catalyst for imaginative play. Children of this age are naturally curious and sociable. By investing in outdoor play equipment that is built to resemble a boat, train, house, castle or pirate ship, you will be stimulating sociable role play and adventure that can bring hours of fun. The addition of traditional playground features of slide, tyre swing and sandbox will add variety that will encourage the children to move around the equipment and get a healthy dose of fresh air and exercise.

For children that are slightly older, between the ages of ten and fifteen, install outdoor play equipment with an adventure theme. By providing lots of physical challenges the older child will be kept occupied physically, which in turn stimulates mentally. Climbing walls have become popular in public play areas, as have zip wires and scramble nets. In fact, play equipment for older children resembles an assault course of sorts. By including the traditional swings and slides alongside these more modern features, it is possible to create a space where all abilities can be catered for in this often easily distracted age group.

Of course, all of these features can be mixed and matched to provide a little something for all age groups. By providing quality products for play, adventure and exercise can help boost brain power and social skills as well as keeping those bundles of joy out of your hair for an hour or two!
