Baby Nursery Decoration Furniture Safety
Babies are always a source of joy and the excitement is often heightened when you start shopping for items for the baby nursery decoration.
You should try to plan on the theme of your baby nursery and have some idea of what items you are going to need and of course the items you know you just want for your precious new baby.
One of the first pieces of furniture most parents look for is the baby nursery crib. These days there are so many choices in baby cribs that it can sometimes be a little confusing and overwhelming.
While the new round cribs are elegant, eye catching and among the safest cribs available, there is sometimes the need to choose based on the investment and the growth of your child.
The convertible cribs that are available today can be set up as day beds. toddler beds, twin beds and some now can be converted into full size beds by making use of the side rails as the headboard and footboard. This of course means you can change the look and feel of your baby nursery decoration with more options and choices.
The safest way to ensure your baby will be safe in your choice of cribs is of course to buy a new one but if that is not possible, you will want to check that all parts are intact and that all screws, nuts, bolts, and any other safety features are secure. This includes making sure the mattress you choose fits your crib correctly and that it will hold even as your baby begins to grow and gain weight.
One way to check the safety and security of the mattress is to take an object that weighs in the area of 20-30 pounds and place it inside the crib or even better to drop it heavily into the crib to test that the mattress will hold it's position.
Another item you may want to invest in for your baby nursery decoration is a changing table for your baby and these are also made to last and grow as your baby grows. Changing tables can be turned into 3 drawer dresser or chests. You will find that if you choose the correct furniture for your nursery decoration that you will be able to change the room's decor as your baby starts getting bigger, sometimes even into their teens.
Remember to always keep in mind the safety and security of your new baby. Whether you are buying used or new furniture check every detail and make sure all screws are tight and secure, all brackets and or other hardware on the baby furniture is installed safely and correctly.
A few minutes or so of inspection is a wise investment both financially and for the protection of your child. You can never be too careful or too picky when it comes to the safety of your new baby and the first place to start is with your baby nursery decoration.
Also adding matching lamps, mobiles, wall hangings, even baby bedding sets to your baby nursery decoration will really bring your baby's room to life and be a source of joy and entertainment for yourself and especially for your new baby.
Remember to have fun while putting your nursery together and all of the time and effort you put in will be well worth it in the end. Again though, always remember to make certain that all furniture and other items are completely safe.
You may even consider ancoring dressers and other furniture to the walls as your baby begins to start getting around and trying to climb up on everything so that there will be no possibilty of anything falling on top of your baby.
