Easy Haircutting Solutions For Your Toddler

Many doting parents spend a great deal of time deciding on haircuts for their kids. Either son or daughter, getting a good haircut is important. Perhaps boys, especially little boys, dont seem to care very much about their hair.

Children haircuts tend to be simple and no-nonsense, and many can be done at home with a pair of haircutting scissors. Many parents prefer to take their kids to salons for stylish boy haircuts, while others prefer an easy-to-cut style a parent can do. Many people wonder when to start cutting their childs hair, and which haircuts are the best, or whether to allow the hair to grow for a while. Some cultures encourage parents to let their childs hair grow until the toddler years.

Everything is so easy and pleasant if you are lucky to have toddler who loves getting a hair cut. But, others are not so lucky. Almost all parents face stiff resistance from their kids when it comes to cutting their hair. One of the main reasons for toddlers to get hysterical when it is time to get a hair cut is due to their fear. It could be that they are afraid of the strange man with a pair of sharp scissors moving around their little head so dangerously close. There are many other reasons too. A haircut could be more traumatic to the child if you end up restraining him with all your might.

Coupled with the trauma of being pinned down while sharp scissors slash their way around his head, a toddlers natural fear of haircuts may become a phobia. If that happens, a picture or the mere thought of a haircut can frighten a toddler terribly.
If the kid develops such a fear, you can never teach him not to be afraid by frightening him even more. Indeed, every time you force your toddler to sit through his fear, you make it grow.

May be it is that the little kid is afraid of going to the barber or hairdresser and dealing with a stranger in the midst and unfamiliar and threatening tools and furniture, including huge mirrors, drapes and so on. If you suspect this might be the case, try cutting your toddlers hair at home while he sits on the floor and looks at his favorite comic book or video. If his fear is really focused on those scissors, try substituting clippers or a pair of bright, colorful scissors instead. Having a friend or sibling nearby can also help put your toddler at ease. Also, make the toddler feel that you are on his side. But if nothing you do convinces him or calms him down, postpone the event to some other time. After all, long hair for the time being is much preferable to fights, force, and lasting fear.

In case is the toddler is afraid to go to a hair dresser, do a bit of research and find one with experience of cutting childrens hair. Instead of trying new hairdressers, a familiar and experienced hair dresser will be more acceptable and comfortable to the kid. Let your child know that the hair will grow back and that cutting hair doesnt hurt. Snip a piece of your own hair to prove it. Choose a time when your child is properly fed, awake and happy. Reach the hairdressers place five or ten minutes before the appointed time so that he can get familiar with the surrounding and watch some else getting the hair cut. Telling him how big a boy he is and encouraging him to act the way the person on the chair does will make him feel grown up and behave himself.

Great article! It's so important to make sure you don't instill negative feelings in your kids. Someone recommended some professional hair cutting shears to me. It might be a good alternative to a scary and expensive salon...plus a money saver in the long run!
