Managing Toddlers By Work At Home Moms

Toddlers are said to be mini adults in the making, and it is the right time to start molding them. We can start by teaching them about making choices and decisions. By allowing your toddlers a little more freedom with decision making, they are more likely to clean up after they make a mess, or brush their teeth when its bed time. All it takes to work successfully at home with a toddler is a little preparation, a lot of patience and loads of love for your kid.

Let your toddler feel important, let them have a voice and become the adult they will one day be. This in turn will enable a work at home mom to make her toddler understand the importance of her work and adjust himself to her busy schedule until she is ready to pay attention to him. Here is how you can train your toddler to cooperate with the household as well as professional work you are doing at home.

Lets first examine how we can enlist the cooperation of the toddlers in managing the household work. Your toddler can do a many household chores and will probably be delighted to imitate you. When you dust, hand her a small dusting cloth and let her copy what you do. Perhaps she can help unload the dishwasher by handing you the spoons and forks. At this stage, the point is not to have her doing chores but rather to keep her happy and close while you get some work done.

When your toddler is in the bathtub you have to be in the bathroom to supervise her anyway. You can use this time to clean the floor, sink and toilet and do whatever you can. Another trick is to make picking up a game by asking your child to find all the yellow things and put them into the toy bin. You can also plan something fun after cleaning. This will create a natural incentive to get things done. Also, kids respond well to quick cleaning sessions. Fix a time by which everyone picks up and puts away things as quickly as possible.

Now, let us look at how your toddler can help you with your professional work at home. First of all, set a schedule to do the work and attending to your toddler. Within a few days your toddler will learn your schedule and accept it as a normal thing to do. Most toddlers can understand if you talk to them about work. Speak calmly, clearly, firmly, to the point and with respect to your child. The same way you would speak to any adult or expect to be spoken to, incorporating a number of please and thank yous.

Also, teach them to respect your work area. You may have a designated work area that is mostly but not completely off limits to your child. If they come over to the place, let them stand close but gently and firmly tell them to keep away from your files and papers.

Of course, if the toddler is feeling unwell, she will need extra attention. If you are sitting on a chair while working, then it is easier for you to comfort her on your lap for some time while you are working. Even though the work goes a little slower, your daughter gets the extra love and attention she needs. She may soon fall asleep, allowing you to put her on a nearby bed. Some kids will soon get bored and walk away to do something that is more interesting. A number of things kept in the room such as toys or dolls they love will help to keep them engaged while you work.
