Show Your Toned Abs With Back Width Exercises and a Chest Workout Routine

Want to know a little secret for your toned abs? You need to focus on your entire body. Alright so that may not be a secret for you but it is time to put that to work. By now you probably know that showing off your toned abs - six pack and all - takes shedding the fat around them just as much as building the muscle in them. But because you cannot spot-reduce fat, this means you need to lower your overall body fat. Basically, get rid of most of your body fat and the fat in your midsection will follow and reveal your toned abs. To help make your abs stand out even more, focus on back width exercises and a chest workout routine.

"I want toned abs. How will back width exercises and a chest workout routine help?"

For starters, the more muscle you build means the more fat you burn. In fact, for every pound of muscle you have your body will burn an extra 50 calories per day. Building muscle throughout your entire body will burn fat throughout your entire body. As for the chest workouts and back exercises, muscles in your chest and back are many times the least focused on in people's workouts. Developing these muscle groups will help in your total body's efforts towards fat loss, but there are also more benefits to back width exercises and chest workout routines.

You may be one of the millions who put in time trying to get toned abs with crunches, sit ups, and other abs workouts but have yet to see the results you desire. As I stated before, part of this may be because you are not burning the fat that are covering up your six pack abs. These abs exercises actually do very little to burn fat - though they are building muscle. However, to help not only to show off those toned abs but improve your entire upper body muscle strength you need to develop your back and chest.

Consider the following back width exercises and chest workout routines:
Lat Pulldowns
Bent Over Rows
Low Cable Rows
Deadlifts
Front and Side Shoulder Raises
Push Ups/Pulls Ups
Butterflies
Incline Bench
Decline Bench

Now picture the stereotypical, muscular man or woman. They have toned abs, defined muscles, and the highly-desired "V-shaped" upper body. The toned abs are a result of not only muscular definition but low body fat. They also stand out because the muscles in the back and chest are defined as well. You can do a million crunches but if you neglect your back and chest your midsection can appear "stocky" because of a lack of fat burning and a lack of muscular definition above your abs. If you have trouble working your back as much as your chest and shoulders, try increasing your ratio of "pulling" exercises to "pushing" exercises. This will improve your muscle balance and dexterity.

Just using back width exercises and chest workout routines will improve the "look" of your toned abs by protruding the muscles around them, but the actual work of building the muscle groups has real value to your entire body, specifically your abs and midsection (the storing place of fat). Getting toned abs is about what is - or is not - around them. Burn the fat by working and building muscle throughout your entire body. Back width exercises and chest workout routines are essential to this process and will do nothing but enhance your six pack!
