Finding Yourself Desperate To Lose Weight Quickly?

Most people who are desperate to lose weight believe there are only two prongs on the weight loss fork: eating habits and exercise. It is based on the well known saying 'calories in, calories out.' It is true, this is the very basic formula for weight loss, but there is a third prong on the fork that many people desperate to lose weight do not completely understand. It is a part of the 'calories out' category and can make the difference between a slow weight loss and rapid weight loss: your metabolism!

Your metabolism is the speed at which your body burns off calories and is constantly working. Even as you sit here reading this right now, your metabolism is hard at work. The question is how fast is it working?

Some people naturally have a faster metabolism and that is why they can eat an entire cheesecake and lose a pound, while those with a more sluggish metabolism would gain a couple pounds. Their bodies simply work faster and burn a lot of calories in the process. If it makes you feel any better, these naturally skinny people are not necessarily healthy. You can be skinny as a bean pole and be internally unhealthy.

If you are desperate to lose weight quickly you must focus on boosting your metabolism so that your body burns off more calories even while you sleep. It really is not that difficult if you understand just a little about how your body works and have the serious commitment to get your metabolism up and keep it there consistently!

The most important thing is not to suddenly cut back calories. Many people who are desperate to lose weight drastically slash their daily calorie intake or cut out entire food groups which leads to a big calorie reduction. While they do lose some weight in the short term they end up stalling out and losing nothing, or gaining it back. This is because when you cut calories back like that you actually slow your metabolism down!

If you are desperate to lose weight quickly, listen to a different method of getting your metabolism pumped up.

1. Start with cardiovascular exercise. Your muscles actually produce enzymes when stimulated through exercise which help your body burn more fat. The higher intensity you work out the more enzymes you can create, and the more calories you can burn not only during that session but for the rest of the day as well. Consistent exercise will give your metabolism a consistent boost, and that is what you need to take the weight off fast.

To give your workout a higher intensity, it does not have to be grueling or even for super long periods of time. Instead of walking around the block, get your arms pumping and learn to power walk or start jogging. There are great beginner programs that turn walkers into runners, easily found online with a quick search. Instead of using a step machine or stepping on a low surface, get out and find a large set of stairs to actually climb. Football fields can be found at nearly any high school and are a great place for stair climbing.

2. Once you get your body moving and your metabolism pumping up higher, you do need to control your calories and take in healthier foods to give your body the support it needs. The 'calories in' part of the equation is very important; but remember you do not want to cut back too much because your body will need more energy to keep up with the new exercise program!

3. Drink water! It has been hotly debated whether you need to take in more water to lose weight or not, but if you know how your body functions you will see you do need it. You do not need to go overboard and drink two gallons a day, but your body is made up largely of water and those levels need to be maintained. Every bodily function requires water that includes your metabolism!

Now what about the argument that you get all the water you need by eating food? What many people do not understand is that if your body does not get enough water it will start sending hunger signals, driving you to eat more just to get more water! Many people eat more than they should just because their body needs more water.

Do yourself a favor and drink your water right from the start. Give your body what it needs to function correctly and you will not have to feel so desperate to lose weight quickly all the time because it will start to happen!
