Ten Successful Weight Loss Tips
Making the decision to start a weight loss program is very easy, but sticking to it long enough to make a real difference in your life can be very challenging. This is how a successful weight loss program should be approached. Do not make a decision based on short-term goals such as to lose weight. Make a commitment to get and stay healthy.
Poor health shows up on your body in many forms. Excess body fat is the symptom most of us see. Loss of energy, decreased libido, low muscle tone, poor flexibility and weak muscles are also symptoms of ill health in one form or another. When you address better health you will correct many of the causes of excess weight gain and improve both your short and long term health. These ten tips will get you healthier. Losing excess body fat will be one of the many benefits.
1. Always be mindful of what you are eating along with getting some form of daily exercise. You may already know that but it should become your mantra. The objective is to use more calories than you are eating. Your body should also be better at burning calories even when you are resting.
2. Do not believe a special fad diet is the answer to your problem. There is no special short-term diet to take the fat off long term. Long-term permanent changes in your approach to eating healthier are what works best. It has to become a way of life. Make it a lifestyle.
3. Know what is in the food you are eating. If may not be realistic to say you will never eat processed food. Therefore you must learn to read food labels specific to your personal situation.
4. Get the support of family and friends. You will make much better progress if those around you are on your side. If you are not fortunate to have local support go online to get the support you need from those in the same situation as yourself.
5. Advertise your intent to change your lifestyle and improve your health. This is another way to create accountability. It is difficult to cheat if everyone is watching you.
6. Perform the physical activities that you enjoy. If you think walking for thirty minutes on a treadmill is boring choose another aerobic exercise. Do the exercises that match your personality. If you like exercising in private, get a workout video and exercise at home. Find a program you will stick with.
7. Get in tune. Walking to the beat of your favorite music is a great way to burn off those extra fat calories.
8. Eat slowly. If you are a habitual big eater, divide your servings in two and slow it down. People who eat slowly tend to feel more satisfied faster than those who eat too much too fast. If you are still hungry, wait at least fifteen to twenty minutes before you eat the second serving.
9. Eat from a smaller serving dish or plate. This is another method to change your mindset. If you see all that food on your plate you may feel compelled to eat it all. A smaller plate will allow you to eat it all without overeating.
10. Set activity goals. Instead of saying you want to lose weight. Tell yourself you want to complete a six-mile road race. Once you accomplish that goal set a time that you want to beat and train for a new personal best record.
Improving your health will require many changes in your attitude about weight loss. It is not always easy to do what is best for your health. Learn to see past your weight and see a person radiating with good health, strength and abundant energy.
