Treadmill -
This piece of equipment is one of the most well-known pieces in its category. Treadmills are really popular because of their convenience and also because it's a lot easier on people's backs and knees than asphalt or sidewalk would be. In fact, I have met several people who have said their knees used to hurt when they would pound the pavement but as soon as they bought a treadmill all this stopped! Treadmills have all sorts of options including different walking/running programs, guides, levels, and other extra additions such as fans, digital outlay, monitors, mp3/ipod hook ups. These pieces usually cost anywhere from $300 on up to the $4000 big boys.

Elliptical -
I actually have one of these as well and I absolutely love it. Not only can you really push yourself and burn those extra calories but it's also fun, I can just pick a program at the push of a few simple buttons, plug my MP3 player in and go go go. Before I know it it's been 45 minutes and I didn't even realize it. These guys are fantastic also if you have minimal room for equipment, some of these are very "slim" whereas others even fold up so you can put them under a bed, in a closet, or in a corner. Awesome!

Exercise Bike -
Bikes are really nice for your lower body such as thighs, legs, calves, etc. There are different types of "bikes" including recumbent and even a smaller option which allows you to use just the pedals while sitting either on the floor or on a chair. Personally I like to use the bicycle exercise you use while lying on your back with no extra equipment, this really works your legs and your abs!

Ab Machine -
I don't go for those cheesy ab machines, you know the ones; "recline, unwind, and watch your flabby abs melt away". Listen if a commercial or an exercise store tells you that you can recline in any sort of a machine and actually lose weight, it's a crock! You gotta work at it. That's like saying you can watch TV on the couch, and for every time you reach for a chip it's a rep. No! I used to have a really nice ab machine, the kind you can use in places like Bally's and Golds gym, it worked wonders. However, since I last moved I didn't want to hull it around, so now I just do a lot of core exercises like scissor kicks, wide leg sit-ups, and open leg sit-ups.

Workout equipment is sold at sports shops, as well as traditional department stores. If you are on a budget, you may want to look into buying secondhand exercise equipment. Used exercise equipment can often be seen on online auction websites, in thrift stores, and at yard sales. As said above-mentioned, there are a lot of different exercise equipment pieces that you can use to help you lose weight at home.
