Feeling Confident Will Change Your World - Try Self Hypnosis
Self-confidence can be described as an ability to have faith in oneself as well as one's personal unique strengths and abilities. It is an integral part of positive self concept, and essential to life achievement. Many people who have a social phobia or are unable to understand how to gain self confidence are unable to become successful. A lack of self-confidence unfortunately, is an obstacle to a person's success. The lack of a positive self-concept often prevents a person in achieving the ability to take control over past difficulties and working toward managing one's own future.
In contrast, self-confident persons have faith in themselves as well as their abilities capabilities to achieve their goals. Such people focus on succeeding; able to learn through mistakes made previously, and are able to use those mistakes advantageously. These individuals understand that weaknesses do not make them failures. Rather, they merely learned to consider the reason for failing and avoid falling into the same situations. Self-confident people recognize, anticipate possible impediments to their aspirations, and tackle these issues with the surety that they have the ability to overcome these potential barriers.
Many factors can result in a person's poor self-concept. Sometimes, people allow fear to become an obstacle, which prevents them from achieving success in some area. Occasionally, people are hindered by genuine or believed guilt over past mistakes. Sometimes, a social phobia can shatter a person's self-confidence.
An alternative explanation for impaired self-confidence is unrealistic expectations. It may be that an individual wishes to succeed at some goal within a given time frame. That goal might or might not be practical. In addition, succeeding at a task can in some cases take longer than initially planned. Requiring a longer time to accomplish a task or needing to overcome further obstacles to achieve one's desires is not equivalent to failure, even though it may sometimes be seen as such.
At times, those who do not know how to gain self confidence search for methods to boost self confidence. Occasionally, they search for counselors to help them build self confidence and resolve these issues. A number of treatment modalities focus on building self confidence. One instance of this is cognitive behavioral theory, which instructs clients to boost self confidence by setting goals for improving self confidence, such as standing up straight. Moreover, they record the progress of an individual's successes by the completion of simpler and then more complex tasks. Concentrating on these tasks actually help individuals develop behaviors associated with self-confidence; however, it does not alter their self-concepts or help them resolve the issues that resulted in the negative self-perception.
Positive self-talk is another approach to building self confidence. The self-fulfilling prophecy is a common theme of psychology classes. This model holds that persons are most apt to achieve the tasks that they see themselves to be able to achieve. Therefore, if clients consider themselves capable of failure or low accomplishment, they will do exactly this. Contrastingly, if individuals see themselves as high achievers who can succeed, they will accomplish their desires. Counselors who utilize positive self-talk focus on assisting individuals boost self confidence, and assist them to consider themselves as successful persons who have the capacity to pursue their dreams effectively.
Hypnosis is another strategy for building self-confidence. Through the process of building self confidence self hypnosis, individuals can attain a meditative state in solitude or with the presence of a therapist. They hear affirmative words and concepts that help them to feel more self-confident by receiving strong behavioral suggestions. Confidence hypnosis is quite beneficial to those who are not analytical or critical thinkers. For those people who are, however, this method of improving self confidence is much less effective.
A more recent alternative treatment that can be used to encourage self confidence is Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). This pioneering treatment can even employ self-perceptions that have resulted in a person's poor self-concept to activate thoughts that will facilitate the development of self confidence!
NLP techniques can allow an individual to correlate past experiences of accomplishment to the current situation. Through the technique of anchoring, persons can be helped to find memories of positive self confidence in their past, and anchor those experiences. In times when that individual needs to boost his or her again, he or she simply triggers that anchor to draw upon strengths developed by past experiences to trust in and expect the success of the current attempt.
NLP is uniquely easy and yet indescribably effective. Unlike other treatments, it does not require one to painfully remember former problems or prolonged counseling sessions to become effective. NLP alone offers results for almost each individual who approaches it as recommended. Most people who try NLP gain self confidence soon after starting the treatment.
Summary: A negative self-concept is an obstacle to success that many people must overcome to pursue their desires effectively. A number of treatment approaches can be used to treat clients increase their self confidence. My research indicates that the most efficacious intervention is Neuro-Linguistic Programming, which assists a person to correlate memories of former accomplishments to current feelings of self-confidence.
