Acne Remedies for Dry and Sensitive Skin
If you have dry or sensitive skin and you suffer from acne you'll need to take special precautions to not only cure your acne but to look after your skin. Most acne remedies will dry out your skin by preventing overproduction of oil and if your skin is already very dry this will only make things worse as your skin will become irritated and flaky. If you have sensitive skin the ingredients in some acne remedies can cause irritation and redness so you need to be especially careful which remedies you use.
Dry and Sensitive Skin Treatment
As we get older our skins tend to dry out as the cells begin to produce less sebum. Collagen and elastin in the skin become damaged and are less efficiently repaired, leading to drier, less elastic skin. Also as women approach the menopause decreases in estrogen production also causes dryness. Dry skin can also be caused by cold weather and if you have sensitive skin it can be easily be irritated by harsh ingredients in cosmetics and skin preparations as well as fragrances and rough fabrics.
Acne Remedies and Treatments For Dry and Sensitive Skin
1. Cleansing
A skincare routine including very gentle cleansing with a mild cleanser and moisturizing is needed if you have dry or sensitive skin. Cleansers sold especially for those with acne are not really suitable for these types of skin. They contain very harsh ingredients for treating the acne but can cause irritation and redness on sensitive skin. You should choose a more gentle cleanser instead that contains only mild ingredients and will not irritate your skin any further. Do not wash your face and never scrub vigorously or use a harsh washcloth in an attempt to remove the dirt that is supposed to be the cause of acne. you. This will only cause more irritation and spread the acne causing bacteria around your skin which will inevitably result in more breakouts. Washing twice a day is enough with a very gentle soap. Either use your hands or a boiled soft washcloth or preferably use disposable cotton pads.
2. Moisturizing
You need to use a very good moisturizer on dry skin so be sure to use one that is very light and and will not add more oil and make your acne worse. Thick creams and lotions are unsuitable as they will clog up the pores and cause more irritation.
3. Acne Remedies
Some ingredients used in acne remedies include benzoyl peroxide, vitamin A derivatives and salicylic acids. For sensitive or dry skin choose one with a very low concentration initially to see how your skin reacts. If it does not cause irritation and redness you can increase the concentration. Do not use all over the face but use a small amount directly in the problem area and only use once a day until your skin becomes more used to it. You could also consider using tea tree oil, either in a purchased cream or lotion containing tea tree oil or by diluting some pure tea tree oil with water and using on your problem areas. Tea tree oil has proved almost as effective as benzoyl peroxide but is much less drying on the skin.
Conclusion
Dry and sensitive skins do suffer from acne and need special care so that you do not make your skin condition worse while treating your acne. Always use acne remedies with as gentle ingredients as possible and consider trying acne home acne remedies instead of the harsher commercial preparations that are available.

I have tried the Tea Tree Oil and it is real good for problem areas. I use cleansers and creams that are not thick. I have normal to dry skin. Thank you for your excellent article. I will pass it on to my friends also.
I purchased the Made from Earth "ROOIBOS TEA FACE SCRUB" after watching OPRAH one day on beauty tips for people with sensitive skin who should ONLY use chemical free products.
I do worry about cleaning my skin and keeping it youthful-looking over time - and I really do want to look my best these days.
This product was recommended by Oprah's expert, and trust me: it's one of the best cleansers I've used in a long time.
It does not dry your face out, but it does clean it quite well. And, as far as price goes, its way worth it because it has cleaned my facial skin without irritating it. I would pay double not to have to walk outside with reddish acne skin like i used to have!!
C'mon! I recommend the Rooibos Tea Face Scrub (from the Made from Earth skin care line) to anyone with sensitive skin who has been searching for an excellent, non-drying cleanser for the face.
