Have A Male Breast Reduction To Cure Gynecomastia

Gynecomastia is a condition that where fatty and glandular tissue develops in the breasts of both boys and men. Up to 70 percent of all boys will experience symptoms of this condition at certain stages of puberty. Most will out grow Gynecomastia but a small percentage do not. There are treatments available to reverse the symptoms of enlarged breasts in men.

Before choosing a course of action to reduce the breast enlargement most doctors will try to find the reason behind the onset of the condition. Gynecomastia can be caused by a number of factors such as certain medications, steroid use, genetic disorders, obesity or an imbalance of sex hormones. In teenagers, since such a high percentage out grow the effects of gynecomastia, most doctors will delay any treatment. In grown men most doctors will try to determine the cause before moving forward with any treatment.

If external issues seem to be the cause of Gynecomastia then doctors will treat the issue first. The patient will undergo counseling for drug use or obesity to see if that reduces the enlarged breasts. This can usually take up to 3 years for the patient to see any substantial results. In some cases men experience tenderness or even pain in the enlarged breasts and if this is the case some doctors will recommend a swifter cure to the condition. In these cases a male breast reduction might be considered.

Male breast reduction is a quick and safe procedure that has immediate and lasting affects on the chest area appearance. The fatty and glandular tissue is removed from the chest area during surgery and a flatter more natural appearance is created. In some rare cases, where the breasts have grown extremely large, the skin needs to be tightened around the chest area to avoid sagging by the stretched skin. Patients are evaluated to ensure they are acceptable candidates for male breast reduction surgery, as is the case for any plastic surgery procedure. Men suffering from Gynecomastia are urged to use their best judgment when considering surgery and to always get a second opinion from another plastic surgeon to ensure this is the next logical step in fixing the condition.

Most people view Gynecomastia as a minor infliction as the condition, other than the appearance of breast, rarely has any physical effects on the body. The psychological affects can be devastating to a man, which is why doctors and medical professionals have been spending more time investigating the causes of Gynecomastia in recent years. Many men who suffer from this condition develop severe depression and anxiety. With more research done in recent years there have been breakthroughs in developing specific exercise routines that can provide lasting reduction in male breast size. These exercise programs are sometimes an alternative to surgery as the procedure can be expensive. Many men who develop breasts begin to exercise the chest area with multiple chest exercises that are designed to build muscle in chest, area such as bench press and push ups, but these exercises will only increase the breast size. Muscle will build behind the fatty and glandular tissue pushing the tissue out further and making the breast appear larger. The only exercise program that will decrease the size of breast is designed specifically for Gynecomastia and should be the only program used.
