How The Rehab Treatment In North Carolina Proves To Be A Complete Program

The rehab treatment in North Carolina is often referred to as a "complete" treatment program for addiction. This program is considered to be one of the most fulfilling treatment programs for both alcohol and drug addiction. It is interesting to see why this program is called so. But first, let us see how the program is conducted.

There are three main parts for a program for rehab treatment in North Carolina. These three parts are intervention, detoxification and the aftercare.

The intervention is the process where the patient is readied for the treatment. This is not an easy thing to do, considering that every patient who is into an addiction will also be in a vehement state of denial. These people will not want to accept that there is a problem with their lives, let alone that they must consider a treatment for it. The intervention part of rehab treatment in North Carolina attempts at bringing the patients out of the denial mode and into acceptance of some form of addiction treatment. However, this cannot be possible in a few meetings.

Generally, the rehab program will build a group of people who can influence the patient in some form or the other. These can include the family and friends of the person and also some relevant people such as the employers of the patient or the teachers. Even religious heads can be included if they can have any influence on the patient and if they will agree to be part of the team. Then this team, known as the intervention team, is trained in how to react with the patient so they can motivate the patient stay out of the addiction.

Once the treatment begins, the patient is analyzed for physical and psychiatric conditions and is them led into a detoxification treatment program. In this detoxification program, the main purpose is to purge the toxins from the body of the patient. This is done by first isolating the patient in a treatment setting and then making the patient completely abstain from the substance. The body will not take the abstinence slightly, especially if the person has been with the addiction since a long period of time. There will definitely be a withdrawal process, which will begin one to three days after the abstinence from the substance has been commenced. This is the reaction that the doctors have to treat.

One of the biggest benefits of the rehab program in North Carolina is seen during the detox treatment program. Here, through a battery of proper medication, the patient is brought out of the withdrawal that is caused by abruptly stopping the usage of the drug. This helps because the patient gets a realistic view of how it will be if the consumption of the substance is completely stopped. Also the patient realizes that it is indeed possible to overcome the withdrawal of the substance. In short, the detox treatment helps as a great morale builder for the patient.

However, the completeness of rehab treatment in North Carolina is clearly seen in the phase of the treatment that follows the detox treatment. This is the aftercare phase. Here the patient is cared for and counseled for quite a long time, sometimes stretching up to one year or more. The patient may be led into an outpatient form of aftercare or a residential format, depending on what kind of withdrawal they had during the treatment program.

There are various purposes that the aftercare program tries to achieve. First, the intention is to keep the patient away from getting the craving for the substance. This is possible only through proper medication, counseling and education. Second, the patient needs to have some confidence that they can come out of the addiction. This is done by the counseling and the education that is involved here, which teaches them of the repercussions of their addiction and what they can do in order to come out of those.

But what is most effective is the third aspect that the aftercare contains. This is where the patient is shown that they can become an active part of the society once again. They are counseled to communicate with their helpful friends and join some social groups. They are encouraged to attend social dos and gatherings. They are even motivated to take up a job. By doing so, the rehab treatment in North Carolina ensures that the patients start living fruitfully once again. This is how the program proves itself to be a very complete program in itself.
