Methadone is NOT only given in inpatient programs--in fact it is very seldom used in inpatient programs. It is usually used in outpatient programs where the patient takes the medication and goes about their normal day. Also methadone is the number one recommended treatment for pregnant women who are opiate addicted, and pregnant and lactating women CAN use methadone. Please get the facts straight.
