The Distinction Between A Qualified And Nonqualified Addiction Treatment Program In Missouri

Not all programs for drug addiction treatment are approved in the state of Missouri. You will find several kinds of treatment programs here, but they are a mix of programs that the state has sanctioned for treatment and those that the state has not yet approved. All these programs can have licenses, but not all of them could be termed as an addiction treatment program in Missouri.

A program that is an approved addiction treatment program in Missouri is termed as a qualified program. These programs are those that are outlined by the federal authorities on substance abuse treatment and the state of Missouri has incorporated them almost as they are, but has made a few modifications to better suit the requirements its residents. Hence, what we know generally as qualified treatment programs in Missouri are federal programs for addiction treatment with minor alterations.

The programs for addiction treatment such as the outpatient treatment program, the day treatment program, the residential treatment program, the rehab treatment program, the detox program and even an inpatient treatment program that does not have detox in it are all classified as qualified treatment programs because these are all approved by the federal and hence the state authorities. These are all plans that experts from the state authorities have tried and tested and have found them to be acceptable for treating addictions. That is the reason why people trust these programs more.

On the other hand, we have a host of programs that are not yet approved for addiction treatment in Missouri but are still quite popular. These are the holistic and the alternative health programs. You will find dozens of programs that can be classified here, such as the faith based programs, the spiritual healing programs, the herbal detoxification plans, the holistic residential rehabs, the massage and Yoga therapies and so many more. There are both medical as well as nonmedical programs included here. Some of these programs use some alternative therapies for bringing people out of the addiction while some of them rely more on a counseling and education approach.

Though these programs may be justified in concept in their own right, because they are not completely conventional in nature and because there is not consistent data to guarantee their success, the state of Missouri does not count them as approved methods of addiction treatment. For that reason, these programs are clubbed as nonqualified treatment programs.

It is important to note that being a nonqualified addiction treatment program in Missouri does not mean that the program is unlicensed. In fact, any program will need a license to operate in Missouri, whether it is approved by the state or not. So, these programs are not illegal or anything of the sort, but they are just not counted yet as acceptable forms of treatment.

That is not to say that the nonqualified treatment programs are not good and effective methods of treatment. A lot of people are seeking treatment through them and are quite happy with the way their recovery is progressing too. Also, these programs are popular, even attracting several celebrity clients from across the globe. However, the qualified treatment programs still have an edge over the nonqualified treatment programs because of the following main reasons:-

1. The qualified programs are accompanied with a lot of proof of effectiveness from the state substance abuse treatment authorities. For that reason, these programs are held in better esteem. People trust them more and rely on them for obtaining their recovery. The holistic programs, on the other hand, are mostly experimental in nature, or at least that is what the common viewpoint is. People would not rely on them as much as they do on a program that has been approved by the state.

2. There are some definite monetary benefits too. Programs that have been qualified for addiction treatment in Missouri are most times also funded wholly or in part by the state authorities. This is quite beneficial to the patient because the costs get reduced. There are also easy payment options in most cases. That further lessens the burden of the treatment for them. On the other hand, the nonqualified treatment programs are definitely more expensive because they are conducted in private treatment centers and there is no backing from the state.

3. Another definite advantage for a qualified addiction treatment program in Missouri is that the insurance companies will be willing to provide coverage for them. Since these programs are state approved, they will be considered as safe by the insurance companies. The same cannot be said about the nonqualified treatment programs.
