The family will also be given instructions to make the patient become socially interactive but they should not do hurry in this matter. The patient should be allowed to mix with their trusted set of friends before and then slowly they should be allowed to go in bigger and unknown group of people.

The counselor will advise the family how they should slowly make the patient do the regular work that the patient used to do before taking the treatment like may be studying or going for work. The family will also be given training on how they should behave with the patient and how they should keep the home atmosphere. The family will be advised to not to taunt or blame the patient for anything that happened in the past.

All these things show that the family of the addict has a major role to play in the overall addiction treatment program.
